Linkin had taken to not sleeping.
He had done something boardering along the lines of unforgivable. Egging Stefan on. Reprising the vampires crave for blood by feeding him his own. Kissed the guy who was dating one of his friends. Yet, he couldn't give a damn.
All Linkin wanted, needed. Katherine had her old yet eternally young fingers curled around.
His vial of stored torments. Linkins cure for his grief, anger and fear. The truma within his bottled pain. The Elena look alike had it, and while she did he was at her beckon call. A dog on a leash.
His phone buzzed on the bedside behind him. "Hello brother."
"Hey Linkin." The older of the Lockwood siblings voice was strained. Trying to mask it with his usual care free tone in a poor attempted to hide his audible discomfort. "Are you coming to the house for the masked ball thing?"
Linkins eyes narrowed in thought. The masquerade ball of the year, one of the many events thrown by the Lockwood family in honour of the founding family. Themselves.
"I wasn't planning to." He hummed picking at the dirt under his nails.
"Well ah, I wanted to talk to you about something-"
"You don't need to try an play nice Tyler. We both know we don't really have a real sibling bond. Thank dad for that." He chuckled darkly.
"Look." Tyler's voice was edged with agitation. "I found something in one of dad's hiding spots. He's been keeping something from you, so has Uncle Mason."
Linkin just gave an uninterested sigh. "I guess I could make an appearance."
"Yeah." Tyler sounded through a sneer. "Whatever. I'll see you at the masquerade."
The call ended with a beep. Linkin just shrugged as he threw his phone carelessly as over his shoulder.
He went to wave his hand to change the colour of his shirt when suddenly his ring burnt like fire. Hissing as smoke rose from his finger as he ripped the accessorie off.
The silver circle jewelled with ambers shards glowing a feint but scorching orange.
Linkin glared at the talisman as it cooled back to it normal silver. Picking it back up cautiously he found it no longer stung with fire, slipping it back onto his finger with a scowl.
More and more had this started to become a common occurrence. Unable to draw on the rings connection to Emily's magic without it burning him. "Faulty junk." He mentally grumbled.
After getting dressed the old fashioned way the witch boy had gone downstairs to find a rather odd sight. One that peaked his intrest.
"Jeremy?"
The Gilbert boy looked up past Damon who was blocking him from entering the front door.
"Link." There was something in Jeremy's eyes now as he regarded his childhood friend. A deep but clear fear behind his brown orbs.
Linkin sent a questioning look to Damon. Of whom which flashed a smile.
"Just came here to drop off some stuff for the ball tonight." The older Salvatore said dismissively.
Despite tasting the lie on his tounge, Link couldn't find it in himsel to care. Simply hummed with a shrug of his shoulders before going to occupy himself with something more interesting in another room.
Both man and teen by the door seemed to relax as Damon sighed and Jeremy's shoulders untensed.
The vampire turned to the human boy with a scowl. "Are you dumb coming here to talk. Do you not know how to send a text." His voice a low sneer incase his house mate was still lingering.
