Linkin strode through the halls of mystic falls high school with heavy shoulders and his head down. It felt strange to be back there, the trivalities of mundane school work, gossip and note taking. He would have found it funny that the most normal thing he could do right now was go to school after everything he's been through the past few months if he wasn't riddled in regret. After all the things he had done, all the things her can do, and the looming threat of an anchient and psychotic vampire maniac coming to kill probably all of his friends. He still had to go to school and study. It was bad enough that he was already two years ahead of the other kids his age. But if he wanted it to stay that way he'd actually have to do the work. Especially after all the time he's had off. He was worried that if he jinxed the principle anymore that the mans brain would sizzle into nothing but mush inside his head.
Maybe he might ask Stefan to compel Principle Daniels and reabsorb the magic he used. At least that way the mans head wouldn't melt.
Someone grabbed his arm and Linkin was snapped out of his thoughts to see Makena of all people glowering at him.
"We need to talk." She growled.
Linkin frowned down at her from behind his glasses. Then his brain registered that he had grown taller than the girl since he had last seen her. Well more like been a victim of her. Befor he could even respond she had already started dragging him into an empty class room. Her grip was so tight that Linkin thought she was about to rip his arm off until she finnaly let go and he fumbled back into a desk. The surprise and shock of her strength made his eye widen. For the first time he realises how disheveled she looked. Her white hair, usually styled in smooth and unmoving waves over her head stood untamed and on its short edges. Eyeliner smudged and merging with the fading dark eyeshadow. Dirt was fixed under chewed fingernails that had chipped blue nail polish. The only word coming to mind to describe her was unhinged.
"What did you do to Drake." She demanded in a low his.
Brow creasing he raised his eyes to look into hers. "I haven't done anything to-"
"Don't lie to me!"
Standing taller and squaring his shoulders Linkin didn't flinch away like he used to. A fact that seemed to enrage Makena more as she stepped into his space and got right up into his face.
"I know what you are you little freak." Her tone was lop and sharp. "You've cast some kind of spell on him didn't you."
Linkins eyes widened.
Makenas lips spread and curled into a savage smile. "Yeah. I know your secret you little witch bitch."
Spittle flew from her lips and peppered along Linkins face. A dot of it reaching all the way up and sticking the left lense of his glasses.
"You don't know what your talking about Makena." He said evenly. She didn't scare him, not even in the wild state she was in now. Not anymore.
Letting out a long and calming breath he took a step back and started for the door. Makena nose twitched with rage before she spun after him and gripped his backpack. Suddenly Linkins feet separated from the floor and he went skidding across the floor before slamming hard against the far wall. He hit the back of his head and stars filled his eyes. Quickly the lights faded away and he saw Makena standing over him, her back to the closed door and blocking his exit. A metallic taste soaked his tounge. He could fell the sting on his bottom lip and realized he had bitten into it.
"You're going to fix what you did." Makena seethed. Her chest rising and falling from her rapid breaths.
He vaguely became aware of the subblte buzz of magic in his immediate area. Looking up at her as his head started to clear he realized it was coming from her. Instantly his mind started racing to figure out how. She wasn't a vampire. She was standing directly under the sunlight that came in through the windows above him, and he hadn't seen her wearing any jewelry, couldn't sense magic from a daylight ring.
