Linkin had spent his time reading. The barrier spell was down, but he had chosen to stay. Elijahs conviction and words set a new hope in him. For once he felt safe. Protected and like someone was actually trying to help him. However long that would last until Klaus came knocking.

He had spent most of his time reading over the vast collection of grimoire's. So many spells at his fingertips, so much knowledge past down from generations. It was a good distraction and helped him focus when his mood swings hit.

Luka was nice. Compared to his farther Jonas he himself decided to take his own opinions on things. Like Linkin himself, for example. Together they talked about comics, magic and binge watched a lot of TV.

"So what's it like?"

Linkin tilted his head from the speed he was reading. A rendition of disruption magic from the middle age's. "What do you mean?"

Luka seemed hesitant to ask. "Like how you absorb magic. It's fascinating."

Biting on his lower lip, Linkin thought on it for a moment. "It's like I can take a spell to its as it. My body can refine it to its natural form of energy. Magic at is core basically is just energy converted into a witches or warlocks needs via will or incantation for the desired affect. I can use it then however a want depending on the level of magic I take in, or the same way it was used before."

"Woah." Luka awed.

"As far as I'm aware I can do it with any spell or magical object. Drain it from vampires and other witches. I can sense it too."

"Really?"

Linkin nodded. "It's cool but not as cool as you'd think. Sometimes it's like an itch that I can't scratch, like the magic's calling for me to take it." He swallowed. "After my powers emerged and Sheila died. She left me a ring that held shard of Emily Bennett's pendant. Gave me constant access to her magic once it reactivated when the comet passed. It stopped me from sensing other magic but it kept that itch away too." A sigh escaped him. "At least until I went full with and it started resisting me." He said befor showing the thick band of burnt flesh around the base of his middle finger.

Lukas brows furrowed. "It was sentient?"

"Not exactly. I'm guessing it was still connected to Emily in a way. Saw me as a friend to her family because I would do anything for them." He still would.

"I knew you were close with the Bennett's. But I never really knew how close." Luka seemed a little nervous as he spoke.

Linkin kept his expression calm and welcoming. "They were there for me when no one else was. My dad- Richard Lockwood had a habit of taking out his anger on my brother an I. Then just me. They took me in and Bonnie became my sister and best friend while Shiela was like the mother I never had."

"I ah. I'm sorry."

Linkin sniffeled, turning his attention back on the spell he was reading. Feeling his mood beggining to shift. "What's it like for you? Magic I mean. I've never really asked Bonnie."

Luka smiled, happy to change the subject. "I can feel it all around me. Like a buzz in the air, smell it in the trees and feel it in the ground."

Linkin had to admit it. "That sounds nice actually."

"It is kinda creepy sometimes I gotta admit. Like a switch you can't turn off."

"I know what that's like."

"I bet." Luka agreed.

They had spent the rest of the afternoon studying books and Linkin got caught up on the school work he had been missing too. When the next day came it was warm and sunny. Linkin had spent it all outside, soaking it up as he ly on the grass. It was nice, peaceful.
