Linkin was busying himself in his room, bored out of his mind, and a little worried about Ryan. He had found out the fireman was fine, thanks to Elijah. He needed to get a handle on his outbursts.
So that is why he was sitting on the floor, legs crossed and practising breathing exercises. It had been nearly a week since that outburst, and he was improving. If only slowly. But progress was progress as Elijah would tell him. At least when he was around, for two days, he hadn't been around.
As he let his mind wonder, he felt the familiar tingle that put the small hairs of his arms on edge. Someone was doing magic. Frowing, he opened his eyes and got up off the floor.
Linkin could still feel the magic as he reached the hallway. But then a pain striken scream made him bolt down to the makeshift library.
"What's going on- Oh my god!" He gaped as Luka rolled around on the floor, body encased in fire.
Jonas raced for a blanket to snuff the flames. But Linkin was already raising his hand.
"Exume Incend." He chanted, and the flames immediately dispersed with a whoosh.
Jonas was immediately at his sons side. Luka breaths were short and stiff as his hands trembled in his farther.
"What happened?" Linkin managed to ask.
Luka chest stopped rising in the moment. Jonas let go of his son, eyes a blaze of hot tears and fury as he glared up at Linkin.
"You're friends." The farther seethed.
"What?" Linkin uttered, still in shock as he realised Luka had just died.
Linkins question was met with a blast from Jonas that sent him crashing into the wall. Hitting his head hard before sliding down the wall, Linkin watched dazed as Jonas stormed past him. He could feel the farthers magic, rising, and seething.
Groaning, he managed to stand, slowly making his way to Lukas body. He was his friend, took the time to know him, taught him, and helped him to understand more about magic. Then he remembered Jonas's words. You're friends.
His eyes widened, and he raced for his phone, tried to call Bonnie, Caroline, Elena. None of them answered. With no other choice, he ran, straight out the door and to his car. As he reached town, finally one of them answered their phones.
"Linkin?"
"Thank god! Are you with Caroline? I need to talk to her."
"I don't know where you've been lately, dude. I'm glad you're okay, but I'm at work." He sounded near breathless.
There was a small scuffle and Linkin chest heaved before Caroline's voice trailed through the speaker.
"Linkin, what's wrong?"
"Who's with you at the Grill?" He asked.
"I'm with Bonnie and Elena -"
Linkins heart sunk. "Listen to me, you all need to get out of there! Luka-"
There was a loud static buzz on his phone before the call disconnected.
"Agh fuck sake!" He cursed throwing his phone down before flooring into the town square.
Frantically, he raced out of his car and into the Mystic Grill. It was chaos, the bar was on fire and the lights were out, people screaming and scrambling for the exit.
Forcing his way through the bulk of the crowd, he saw Jonas in front of Caroline who was holding her head screaming. He pushed against the crowd harder as his heart hammered in his chest. Watched as Matt ran to her and pushed Jonas off of her and tried to pin him back against the wall.
