"AHHH, I forgot to look for Ian!"
I was busy feeding Wendy a food appropriate for a fox when i suddenly remember something so important. It was to look for Ian. Crap, i totally forgot about Ian. I was too caught up at the situation earlier that i completely forgot the very reason why i went to castle in the first place.
"Really? Geez, something unexpected probably happened that it made you forgot about it." Owen chuckled while he was busy cleaning the wooden table and chairs. "So.. what happened to the meeting with the King? Did someone caused a scene?"
I'm currently at Peirce's bar right now. Since some terrarians were still shocked about the sudden announcement of the upcoming disaster, we were dismissed by the King to process everything and decided to do the planning tomorrow. Peirce's Bar were just a few meters close to the castle so i thought of visiting to see my friend. The bar were already closing when i entered but since I'm Owen's friend, I'm allowed to enter the bar and can stay how long i want since my friend is here. I asked Owen why they were closing so early this time and was informed that something urgent happened so his father couldn't come to help him in managing the bar.
"Oh no, no one caused a scene. Apparently, we were invited to the castle because..."
I didn't hesitate telling my friend everything that happened in the castle. From describing what the castle looked like inside to the shocking and disturbing message from the Dryad, the terrarians who left and fled like a coward, the support the Sven Kindom will be giving and then the crazy 13yrs old princess taking the mission. I practically told him everything that i was so sure that my friend would be overwhelmed by the bunch of information suddenly being thrown at him but Owen proved me wrong as i looked at his direction. Across his face wasn't a worried or scared countenance but instead a curious expression which doesn't make any sense at all.
"Did you accept the mission?" Owen was the first one to speak.
"Huh? Y-yes...? But why is your expression like that after hearing the disaster...?"
"Ah that... After experiencing the unusual event, i just thought something bad is about to happen."
"That doesn't answer my question at all."
After that, Owen didn't speak anymore and pretended that he was busy on cleaning the bar, as if he had no intention of explaining himself. I just stared at my friend, dumbfounded at the strange reaction of him. Why doesn't he have any sign of anxiousness in his face after hearing such a disastrous news? Owen and i have been a friend for so long that i know almost every silly things he did in the past. I know what his favorite things are and i also know what kind of expression he would have in any kind of situation. He would also often tell me some of his secrets which just shows how close we are to each other. But this time, it felt like a wall suddenly appeared between us as if sealing the Owen I've known for so long and changed it to a completely new one.
I glanced at my friend and this time, Owen didn't avoid me and met my eyes. It was at that moment that the doubt I have deep within me were completely erased as i saw a tinge of worry in his green eyes.
"It's very unlikely of you."
"What?"
"The Amber i know won't accept such a thing that will put her life at risk."
Owen didn't have to explain what he meant by that as i instantly understood the meaning of what he said. "Ah that... it is just I've no other choice." I said. The way it came out of my mouth felt as if it was a half lie even though it was definitely true.
Owen seems to notice it as well but didn't question it and just kept quiet, finally ending our conversation.
Maybe I'm just forcing myself to think it that way...
Feeling uncomfortable because of the sudden silence, i fixed my attention at the opened window. It was only then that a realization came upon me. Right, I was already given a chance to escape. I thought to myself, remembering those terrarians who left the kingdom so they won't have to deal with this dangerous mission.
If Ian were given that mission, he would definitely accept it without hesitation. Maybe, i was influenced by him.
Ian...
Just where are you now?
My mind went back to my memories in the castle, thinking of every possible faces i could remember. They were some faces that were still vivid in my mind but none of them resemble my rival, much to my dismay. Ian disappeared 12days ago, the same day that unusual event took place.
Does Ian disappearance have something to do with the disaster?
Ian can't be dead yet as most people said that my rival survived the onslaught at the very end of the disaster and just dissapeared later at night. Just what the hell happened to you Ian? Argh, i don't know anymore!
I cleared my troubled mind, finally deciding not to stress myself too much as i wouldn't be much of a help if i was stressed during this disaster, "Hey." My voice was weak but it was enough to grab Owen's attention. "Is there an extra bed i could use here?" I asked as i remember my friend sleeping in this bar sometimes.
"Uh there is one extra bed but it is in the same room I'm currently using right now."
"Alright thanks."
"You're going to sleep here? Aren't you at least worried having a guy around?"
"You're my friend. You won't do anything weird to me so I'm not worried at all." I said as Wendy and i went to go to the room, Owen didn't have to point the direction as i already know the way.
Inside the room weren't much decorations, they were just a pair of bed and one shelve in between the two bed, making me laugh after seeing the inside of Owen's room. It's pretty much just like my room, plain.
I went to the one bed that were close to the window and lay for a few seconds. Just when a drowsiness were just about to hit me, i instantly got up from the bed and rummaged in my bad, looking for the clothes I always wear when i sleep. Instead of the comfy clothes, i instead found a familiar book. It was the book i read yesterday late at night.
There was nothing really special about this book. The content of this is pretty much just a daily life of a guy who lives in unordinary world where there is no monster and terrifying creatures around. Just human and animal.
Does such a peaceful world really exist?
It is just... too good to be true.
Question of the day: How long have you been playing terraria?
Author's note: School will be starting soon so the update might take some few days from now on but I'll try my best to at least update two chapters every week. I'll also make the chapter a little longer this time. Im so bad a coming up with chapter's name XD
Also, i feel bad for Wendy HAHAHA the fox doesn't have much appearance. Even when Wendy is there, they are rarely mentioned. Wendy is most likely to get mentioned less as the disaster is about to happen.
