It was a long time ago... Back before Lucas and Leopold saved Miss Ivory and back before Leopold made himself a powerhouse in battle...

Leopold was in a dark place. Nothing could be seen except the pitch black in front of him and the coldness he felt all around him. "Where am I? What happened to me? I can't remember..."  Leopold tried to open his eyes, but there was no point. "Am I dead?"

"Hello? Are you okay?" someone was calling from afar, but Leopold couldn't hear exactly who. He tried again to open his eyes, but it was as if he didn't have any.

He felt his body become lighter and a soft wind that moved in the opposite direction of his body. "Someone is moving me! But where and why? What is going on?!"  Leopold for a long time would be asking that question.

==================

Leopold opened his eyes barely. He had recently had himself moved somewhere after an accident, but he didn't know who moved him or why. "Maybe their going to dissect me and study my body like in the stories..."

He looked around the room, but something was off... The room had multiple images instead of one and his head felt dizzy. "Just what did they do to me?"

"Oh, so you're awake, good sir." A person in nice clothes was standing next to Leopold. He was smiling at him as if he knew Leopold, yet Leopold just looked at his face in a black stare.

"Where... where am I?" he asked.

The stranger laughed. "You're in my medical unit. You were found badly injured and taken here." He pointed at Leopold's eyes and hand. "Your right hand and both eyes were completely destroyed, so we replaced them."

Leopold tilted his head. "Yeah... but you don't know me, do you? What was even the point? Do you need something from me or something?"

"Why would you think that?" the man asked.

Leopold was confused. "Isn't that what most people do? When someone you don't know helps you, they must want something from you..."

The man laughed at Leopold's statement. "Well I don't know what kind of a civilization you came from, kid, but it's not like that in my home."

"Then you must be pretty nice, mister." Leopold commented. "But... I never got your name."

The man smiled. "Oh, that was my mistake. I am Johnathan D. Stratus, a low ranking noble of the Stashin Kingdom. What is your name, young one?"

Leopold blinked. "My name is Leopold." He thought about the man named Johnathan. "He said he was from the Stashin Kingdom... Maybe that's why he's so friendly."

"Well, would you like some food, Leo?" Mr. Stratus asked him. He clapped his hands and shortly after two maids walked in with a bowl of soup and some bread. "I'm sorry that it isn't much, but low ranking nobles don't exactly get a lot of money and expenses."

Leopold nodded. "It's quite alright. I actually haven't had food even as good as this ever, so it will be a true treat." His eyes sparkled. "So, I can really eat this?"

Mr. Stratus nodded, grinning warmly still. "Go ahead, Leo."

Leopold grabbed the food and began to stuff his face. Before this he mostly ate things like grasshoppers and honey, so a change to other foods was very different. "This is so beautiful! Nobles live so well if they eat this stuff every day!"

When Leopold finished the food, the servants took the food and left the room, leaving Leopold and Mr. Stratus alone again. Mr. Stratus frowned. "So, I suppose you want to head home to your family, Leo.
