Richard calmly walked down the hallway towards his room. He practically has nothing to worry about now. The hybrids are free, he got the information he needed from the computers. Sure, there is the issue of how they were going to explain this but he's certain they will find a way to get away with it. They always do.
The man rounded a corner as he saw Ramsay and Manuel at the door to his room already waiting. He increased his walking speed to get to them faster and when they met, they shook each other's hands and went into his room.
"That was some superb work guys. Very good on your parts." Ramsay congratulated them.
"The real one we have to thank is you for giving us literally every opportunity to get around the place. If you were never involved I'm pretty sure we would've been caught." Richard remarked.
"Nah. I just sat in a room while you guys did the real work. Besides, this was your idea Richard. If anyone deserves credit it should be you and Manuel." Ramsay smiled.
Richard was thrilled to have finished Operation Let Them Free. It would've been a colossal failure if he tried to do it himself but thankfully he found people who had the same mindset he did.
Ramsay wasn't even sure what he was getting himself into when he first talked to Richard. Part of him thought it was a suicidal mission that would've ended with all of them being gobbled up by Genesis but it's a good thing it never came to that.
"Anyone else feel like this could be some kind of spy movie?" Richard joked.
"Yeah, who knows. Maybe someone could make a movie out of this kind of idea." Ramsay chuckled.
The two of them were in such a great mood considering that no one suspected anything about the whole thing. They weren't even close to getting caught which was amazing considering that the guards have guns but thanks to Ramsay they were able to pull it off flawlessly.
Although, while Ramsay and Richard were enjoying their success, Manuel stayed silent because he was still recovering from letting go of Indominant. He knew it was inevitable and he wanted him to be free. But he didn't expect it would hurt this bad.
It was almost as bad as when his family was gunned down. Sure, Indominant wasn't killed but he still had to let go of someone that meant the world to him.
Richard noticed this and went over to comfort his colleagues.
"Hey, Manuel. I know it was hard but-" Richard was interrupted.
"Yes it was. I didn't think I'd have to let go of someone who I saw as a son. It sounds weird but it's how I saw our relationship... He was the only thing that felt like family to me after those monsters gunned down the people I loved the most. That kind of thing stung like hell, man." Manuel wiped another tear off his face.
"I know. It was hard for me to move out of my house too. But don't worry, we'll find him. Even if we have to search every continent under the sun." Richard placed a hand on Manuel's left shoulder.
"And if it means anything. Maybe we could also be some kind of family to you. If that's not too weird." Ramsay suggested.
Manuel laughed. He hadn't felt this much kindness from any human being in a while that he started to connect more with animals than he did with the people he works with.
"I don't mind. Besides, weird stuff never bothered me anyways." Manuel smirked.
Richard chuckled. It reminded him of when Alice said she didn't mind being weird. And Manuel could definitely benefit from bonding with other people while Indominant is gone. At least then he won't feel alone like when his loved ones were taken from him.
