Uzu smiled to himself as he walked to the riverside. He held out the eight flowers, placing them by the water. "Hey, Aki. I keep thinking I might need to change my whole flower per year. I seem to be living a lot longer than either of us thought, especially with the whole, just got punched in the head thing- though in my defence, that wasn't my fault.
It's been a wild year. I finally got married! We kept trying to organise it earlier, but every time, some jerk would ruin the day. We refused to get married in a full-body cast, and no, I wasn't the only one getting injured. In the end, we put up so much security we showed up UA. Aizawa's face was brilliant.
Kyoka and Momo were so pretty. They both had these special dresses that they made, and they were so cute! Hawks was there, along with most of the old class that stayed in touch. Robbin and Eagle kept making fun of me, but I totally got them back by pointing out I got married before them. They got so embarrassed, and then Jiro hit me for teasing the guests." Uzu paused.
"Ava was there, as well as the rest of the crew. Priya is growing up so fast. She still has your lavender; it's her favourite monster, and she refuses to let anyone but her close family touch it- of course, of which I am a member. She's enrolling in UA next year. She says she wants to be a hero like you could have been.
Oh, and I took in an intern. You remember Araki! She's a hero now in UA- wait, did I tell you I started my own agency... well, you know now. I raised the money on my own, too! Momo kept offering to pay, but Kyoka and I made our own agencies- shit forgot to tell you that too. Kyoka has her own agency now! She's fantastic. She got to the top 50 heroes! I think she could do better, but she doesn't get involved in the larger fights. She mostly works on stealth and rescue missions, so they aren't that flashy, but that just shows how loved she is because she's leagues above the other heroes in that field.
Momo did really well, too! She got into the top 20! She beat Katsuki! The guy could barely believe it. It was so funny!" Uzu grinned as he remembered Bakugo's reaction to the announcement.
"Uzu?"
Uzu froze, glancing over his shoulder. Naka stood in the field, a shocked look on his face. He had changed. He looked older and healthier.
"It is you." Naka smiled as he walked closer. "Hey."
Uzu paused before he sighed. "Hey. It's been a while."
"Yeah." Naka took a breath before he sat by Uzu. "Do you mind me joining you?"
"I don't own the hill."
Naka paused as he looked out into the water. "Uzu- I'm sorry. For everything that I did to you and Akiko." Naka hung his head as Uzu burst out laughing.
"Damn, it took you 8 years to apologise. I feel bad for whoever gets stuck with you." Uzu grinned before he jumped up, stretching out his arms.
"Yeah. I'm amazed he took me after everything I put him through." Naka hugged his legs. "I wanted to finally apologise to Akiko, sorry for ruining your moment."
Uzu shrugged. "I do this every year, and I was wrapping up anyway." Uzu turned away, walking off as Naka tightened his eyes.
He jumped up, reaching out for Uzu. "Wait! Can we meet sometime?"
Uzu paused, an almost satisfied look in his eyes. "Depends."
"Depends."
"You still need to apologise to Akiko." And Uzu walked away. He could have been less petty, but he wasn't that big a person.
Naka lowered his hand before he turned back to the water. "Akiko... If you can hear me, I really am sorry for everything I did. You deserved better than me." He stayed there, leaning against the tree, feeling the wind blowing against him and the flowers. The smell of lavender rose, drifting across the place soothingly.
The story that began with three kids going to be heroes ended. One running toward his goal, one finding a new goal and one becoming a tale only able to inspire others in her place. As the last chapter closed, the heroes of today became the heroes of yesterday, and their story was shut.
Or was it?
