One day

Chapter 19

Fox's POV:

She cried. She cried into my chest and told me the big thing she's been hiding from everyone and even herself. She seemed to have surprised herself with her own confession. I was surprised at home she sought out comfort from me. She hugged me. If you had told me when she first got here that she'd be cuddled up to me now and in my car on our way to my house, I would have laughed in your face. Since her little outburst, we've been talking and laughing like we're old friends. The drive is easy and no awkward silences, nothing. Pulling up to my house she goes quiet. She's staring at my house as if she's trying to figure something out.

"What? Not what you expected?" I raise an eyebrow waiting for her reply.

"No I imagined something bigger in all honesty." She looks away sheepishly.

So that's what she thought of me. That I had the best life ever? That I have the big house and the lavish cars and the perfect family? Well she'll learn today that, that's not the case.

"C'mon." I lead her to the front door. She trails behind me, still staring at my house trying to figure what my story is. Opening the door I look back over my shoulder and warn her.

"My moms in by the way so I'm sorry if she freaks out and acts weird, I don't bring girls home so she's gonna be surprised, shocked and ecstatic all rolled into one." She lets out a short laugh at my description of how my moms going to act. As we step into the house we can hear laughing coming from the kitchen so that's where we head to. We stop in the doorway and watch my mom and sister giggle together and mess around. I clear my throat to let them know that I'm standing there. They freeze and look up but their attention doesn't stay on me for very long. They suddenly notice Hayden standing next to me and their eyes go big. A shit eating grin breaks out on my moms face and Neve looks confused by her presence.

"Mom, Neve this is my friend Hayden. Hayden this is my mom and sister." Introduce everyone and see who makes the first move. Hayden takes the lead, steps up and holds her hand out for Ma to shake.

"It's a pleasure to meet you Ma'am." This seems to snap Ma out of it because she suddenly surges forward and wraps Hayden up in a hug.

"None of that nonsense darling, you can call me Mamma. It's not everyday Fox brings such pretty girls home unless you count Sara but she's been his best friend for God knows how long."

"Ma you're babbling and probably scaring her off. I kinda wanna keep her around for a while." My neck and the tips of my ears go red when I realise what I just admitted. The girls all laugh at me and my red neck and ears.

"Well Hayden let me show you Fox's baby photos hmm?" Ma wraps her arm over Haydens shoulders and steers her towards the living room. Great.

"Maaaaaaaa..." I trail behind them knowing how embarrassing this is going to be.
