Haydens POV:
As I'm driving to pick Jack up from school I think back to our parents and imagine the life we would both be living if they had stayed sober. Would be the family that never forgot a birthday or other celebrated holiday, would we make friends with our neighbours in the good side of town. Bake cookies?
It's all a lot of what ifs. What if my mom wasn't a crack whore? What if my dad wasn't a drunk abuser. What if my parents didn't owe drug dealers? See, What ifs. I'm glad I got Jack out when I did before things got any worse for him, before anything happened to me.
I have a past that I'm not proud of but I did it to put food on the table for Jack, for him to go out with friends, for his clothes and only if there was anything left over, for me and my bike. I just pray I never have to go back to that life.
I pull up to Jack's school to see him sitting on the steps with some other kids his age, talking and laughing. I'm glad that he's started talking to people and trying to make new friends here in this new town.
"HAYDAY!" Jack screams and comes running at me.
I jump off of my bike to catch just in time as he launches himself at me giggling. I chuckle at his antics and look down at him then to his friends.
"Hey buddy! Aren't you gonna introduce me?"
"Oh yeah! Okay so this is Tia, Claire, Jox and Leo." he introduces in order from left to right. After their name they each wave at me then look at my bike in awe.
"Well it was nice to meet you guys, my names Hayden, but we've got to go."
"Bye!" they chorus as me and Jack walk over to my bike. I drive considerably slower home with Jack on my bike. Even as he protests that I drive faster. I just laugh at him and stay at the same speed and in no time we're at the apartment.
"You know the drill Jack, go do your homework buddy then we're gonna have dinner and I'm cooking not ordering in."
Okay so I'm sorry if it was short or rubbish guys! I'm also sorry for the long wait but I'm back and the story will continue. Comment below! :) αντίο (means fair well in Greek).
