Haydens POV:
His lips are on mine and my mind is blank, but for once I let go and go for it. I move my lips with his and let my eyes close. One of his hands moves from my cheek to the back of my neck and tangles his fingers into my hair. I can't get enough I want more, I want him, so I step closer. As close as I can get to him hoping to show him that I want this, really want this. He seems to catch on because his arm snakes around my waist pulling me impossibly closer making me smile into the kiss. Honestly? This is probably the best kiss I'veer ever had, without all of that cliche bullshit. Kissing Fox is like breathing in the fresh air. Its feels so right, and so good. It feels like coming home.
Taking a risk I touch my tongue gently to his lips and suddenly his tongue sweeps over mine and takes control of the kiss. I'm slowly running out of breath and the need to come up for air is growing more and more. So regretfully I break the kiss and rest my forehead on his breathing hard.
"Um-m, I-i-i... Wow." I was speechless. Who knew a kiss could do that to a person? Certainly not me that's for sure.
He gives me a cheeky but gorgeous smile that I can't help but laugh at. He pecks at my lips once. Twice. Three times. So now what?
"You drive me insane you know that?" He whispers to me. I smile at him and suddenly get all shy.
"I'm sorry, I can't help it when I'm around you."
The moment is ruined when my phone chimes telling me I have a text.
You, in the ring. Tonight. $10,000 winnings.
Reading the text I frown. Great I have to fight tonight. I see Fox shift out of the corner of my eye. Shit! Did he read the text too?
"$10,000?! Dollars! For one fight? Please tell me you're not going." He sounds so exasperated with the idea. It makes me frown and get all defensive.
"Of course I'm going to fight Fox, like you said it's $10,000! Why wouldn't I fight? I have so many things that $10,000 could pay for."
"Like what Hayden? What could be so important that you would risk your well being for?" He still doesn't get it.
"Alright let me list them all out for you huh? Okay and stay with me now. Jacks insurance, my insurance, Jacks dental bills, his clothes, food, half of the rent, gas for my bike, Jacks school tuition, money for when I want to treat Jack on night or days out. You see there are so many things that I have to pay for, so yes, I am going to fight tonight." I look him dead in the eye and wait for his reply.
"Okay." Is his simple answer. So simple in fact I'm shocked speechless. Well that is until what comes next.
"If I come with you." Suddenly I had everything to say. And it was all objections.
"No. No way. Nope. Not a chance." I'm shaking my head so fast I think I'm going to get whiplash. But this dumb ass just shrugs his shoulders as if he's talking about what he wants for dinner tomorrow.
Luckily for me the bell rings signalling the first lesson is about to start. Quickly, kissing him on the lips and running out as if my ass is on fire. I dodge people left and right just trying to get to my class. One hour of geometry. Great. I make sure I take a seat right at the back of the class and think to myself. Wait. What does this mean for me and Fox now? That kiss, well I don't regret it and I sure as hell wouldn't mind many, many more.
As I'm on my way to class I get a call from Jacks school, now I've never got a call from the school for any reason so when I see their caller ID flash on my screen I start to panic. Is he hurt? Have they come for him? Is he sick? Whilst thinking all these things I rush to answer the phone to find out.
"Hello?" My voice cracks at the end and I'm starting to feel sick.
"yes, hello is this Hayden? Jacks guardian?"
"Yes it is, is there something wrong?"
"Well we need to you to come down to the school to pick him up. There has been an incident."
"Uh what kind of incident? Is he okay?" My voice rises slightly at the end because I'm starting to get anxious.
"Yes, yes but I would rather talk to you about this when you get here okay? See you soon." And with that she clicks of the phone and I'm just left with the dial tone telling me she's hung up on me.
Quickly I snap out of it and rush straight for my bike, not caring that I've only been to one lesson today. Nor do I care about the teacher screaming at me to get back right this instant. I just keep on running as if my ass is on fire and throw on my helmet without caring about my hair. I'm pretty sure I broke a speed limit or two on my way to Jack, and pulling up to his school has never been more nerve wracking. Taking a deep breathe I race into the school to meet with his headteacher.
