One day

Chapter 26

Hayden's POV:

After me and Jack make dinner together for everyone, I put Jack to bed and start to pack my bag ready for tonight. 'Deathdealer' is known for cheating. Which is why the purse was so high. I was going to win. I had to. No matter what, me and Jack need to money. My phone ringing snaps me out of my thoughts. without even checking the caller ID I answer my phone. 

"Hello?" I say unsure.

"What the hell do you think you're doing Hayden?" The other line yells. I pull the hone away from my ear to see Fox's name on the screen. 

"Fox? What are you talking about?"

"I'm talking about the fight tonight. The one you're fighting in!" He's full on shouting by now. 

I roll my eyes and huff a breathe. 

"Fox will you calm down? You knew I was going to be fighting tonight. it's a lot of money." I sigh into the phone.

There's a moment of silence on his end, so quiet that I think he's hung up on me. That is until I hear him finally whisper. 

"Will you please just be careful?" He says it so softly. 

"Of course I will. I promise." I add in the promise bit to make him feel better. 

"How confident are you about tonight?"

"If he sticks to the rules? About 80%." I huff a laugh. 

Only he doesn't laugh with me. 

"Look Fox I've gotta go, I'm leaving in a bit." I hang up before he can say anything else. 

I changed into my fighting gear and head for the door with my bag. I reach the door just as my uncle and Xavier do. My uncle takes one look at me, what I'm wearing and the bag I'm carrying and his eyes widen. 

"No." Is all he says whilst he's shaking his head.

"What?" I ask confused.

"If you walk out of that door right now, if you fight tonight you're done." 

I look at him shocked, Xavier's expression matches mine. I'm so shocked that I take a step back hurt. 

"Dad!" He shouts. But me? I just scoff and steel my shoulders. 

"You know I knew this was going to happen. Take in two orphan to make yourself feel better for not doing anything after you got my parents hooked on drugs! Do you sleep better at night?!" By now I'm shouting at him. 

His face has gone all kinds of pale. I let out a small unfunny laugh. More like letting go of a breath I've been holding. 

"Oh didn't think I knew did you? Well I do, and don't worry after tonight we'll be out of here. You don't have to worry about us anymore."

I shove past him and his pale faced self and out into the night. I jump in Xavier's truck and speed off. As I'm driving off I see Xavier running after me shouting my name. With tears in my eyes I pull up to the back entrance to the club. Grabbing my bag I jump out and head in. I'm walking down the corridor to my changing room before I'm grabbed with a hand over my mouth. I'm pulled back into a dark empty room. 

"Shh shh it's just me Fox. Now if I let you go don't hit me okay?" He says the last bit with humor in his voice. I turn on him.

"What the fuck are you doing here Fox? Are the others with you too?" I start to get nervous. Checking the hallway to see if anyone saw us. 

"Um I think so, I'm not sure. Why? Hey, why are you acting all weird?" He scrunches up his face and takes a step closer.

"Because none of you should be here. It's dangerous for people like you. You don't know these people like I do. They're bad people Fox, really bad. They will kill you for wearing the wrong colour shirt if they're in a bad mood." i whisper shout. 

"I'll be fine okay I'm just here to watch you fight, then we're both leaving okay?" I don't know what triggered it but next thing I know I'm seeing things. 

~FLASHBACK~

He sits in his chair, and I'm on his right and Domino is on his left. His top girls he calls us. #1 and #2. He's negotiating a sale of a new fighter. While they talk, I'm watching her train, analyzing her every move. She's good but I see her weaknesses clear as day. 

"Hmm Satan what do you think?"

He's asking for my opinion because he knows what I do, this and my fighting skill are what made me his #1. His most trusted and prized fighter. I cock my head to the side as I continue to watcher. Domino goes to call me on not answering Master right away. But Master silences her with a raise of his hand. He smiles, he knows the process. He respects it, it's never been wrong before. He's patient. Once I've seen all I need to I straighten with my answer. I turn to him and give him his answer. 

"She's strong sure and she has a good technique which is rare. Especially with girls. She also has a good fair reach, but she's slow. She won't get there first to get the upper hand and she won't hard. She's predictable, she shows what she's going to do before she does it."  He nods taking in what I said into consideration. 

I see movement coming in the corner of my eye. It's her. I smile ready to prove my point. I dodge her attack and grab the back of her head and use her own speed and momentum against her to smash her face into the wall in front of her. I laugh as does Master.  He stands clapping his hands as I move back to my position. 

"Well it's seems I have my answer! No deal. No one attacks my girl and joins me." Before I can even blink, he has his gun in his hand and he shoots the fighters owner. I flinch and die on the inside a little bit more. Me and Domino share a look. 

~END OF FLASHBACK~

"Hayden? Hayden!" He's shaking me back to the present, or am I the one shaking? 

"What?" Is my smart reply. 

"Where were you just now? You just zoned out." He looks worried. 

"No where I'm fine, I gotta go. I'm fighting soon." I rush out before he can say anything else or try to stop me.
