I was having second-day jitters. My backpack sat on the edge of the room. "Hey, Geff." It was Jerald. "What is it?" He looked around to make sure Mom wasn't listening. "Wanna read more of Dad's notebook?" I went and closed the door. "I don't really know, we have school tomorrow, and besides, I'm pretty tired." Jerald paused for a moment, while I looked under the bed. "Fine."

"YES!"

"But only one entry, and we're going to sleep."

"Alright. Gotcha."

--Ted and Wallace were already eating. So we finished up the walls, and we were getting ready to make the stairs. "We gotta finish the room, first, so don't get too excited," Wallace reminded me. But you can't blame me. After all, it was my house we were building. But that doesn't matter. We continued until the sun set, and by the time we got home, we were exhausted, but it was all going to be worth it in the end. I'm thinking of naming our son an unusual name, something that's not normal. I have a couple suggestions in my mind, most of them starting with G, and the ones I like best are Garrett, Grayson, or even Geoffrey.

"Wait, Dad was going to name you Geoffrey?" Jerald chuckled. "Wait. Keep on reading, I think we might find something that explains why." I flipped ahead a couple of pages. "But skip to where you're born, because the building of the house is so boring."

"Alright, alright-- here! Found it."

ENTRY NINE

The house was complete, and all that was left was to paint it. But since I was so tired, I hired a couple of guys to do the job for me. Ted and Wallace felt good to get the jobs off their backs as well. So while I was washing the dishes, I heard something in the other room. Inside, I saw--

"Yuck." It was disgusting. So specific. Jerald looked. "Ugh! Let's skip that part." (Sorry, but this book is child-friendly, so I am NOT showing that) So we skipped that page and got to the good stuff.

I waited outside the delivery room, hoping they would both make it out. As the time went by, I got more and more nervous. The doctors wouldn't let me in, no matter how much I screamed at them. So once it quieted down, I finally came in and saw our new member of our family:

Geffrey Anderson.

"Dang. So they shortened your name to Geffrey?" Jerald asked. "It says here that Mom didn't want her son to be named like a sort of rogue cult member. So they shortened it to Geffrey, and that was that." I closed the book and hid it in its proper place. I turned out the lights, but I stayed awake. I could tell Jerald couldn't sleep either, considering the top bunk seemed rather quiet. I stared at the roof in silence, waiting, until I finally fell asleep.
