Jay

Glancing down at my watch, it'd been over six hours since they'd brought Avery into the ER. Seeing the shadows of people, racing around through closed doors. I slowly get to my feet walking around the waiting area rubbing the back of my neck. The whole team had finally arrived, along with some of the PD as well and fire. "Hey." Kelly calls out walking over to me putting his hand on my shoulder, as I glance at my fiancé's, best friend's husband.

"Yeah, Severide?" I question.

"She's tough, she'll be ok." Kelly tried to assure me.

I shrug, "I don't know." I whisper looking at him. "She was barley breathing when I found her." I pause choking up a little trying to hold my tears back. "How could I have let this happen, Kelly?" I question.

"Hey." Kelly looks me dead in the eyes. "Jay, you didn't cause anything. That psycho that is following her, stalking her caused this." Kelly told me.

"And we're going to get him." Hailey tells me coming up beside of me giving me a hug as I return it.

"He'll be smart. He's probably long gone." I tell them.

"Doesn't matter, we'll find the son of a bitch." Hailey promises.

I simply nod my head. Sighing a little, I see the doors open as Will and Crockett walk out. Walking towards my brother I see his face, in the pits of my stomach. I know it isn't good. "How is she?" Hank asks.

"Hank. Jay." Crockett begins.

"Just fucking spit it out." I tell him in anger knowing something had happened.

"She suffered a lot of head trauma, Jay." Will looks at me. "She is in a coma." Will adds looking me dead in the eyes.

"Wh—" I stop.

"From the accident, she was ejected, and must have hit something. Her skull is fractured, and a lot of brain bleeding." He stops. "Her heart is very weak, from something smacking into her chest during the accident." Will stops. "If she makes it through the seventy-two hour window, she will have a fighting chance."

"Are you saying, she's dying?" I ask my brother.

"I'm saying, if Avery pulls through the next three days, without anymore brain bleeds, or any other issues appearing. She has a fighting chance to survive, Jay." Will tells me.

"She's in ICU 104. Two at a time. Please." Crokett told them before disappearing back into the ER.

Seeing the group heading for the elevator. I stand there running my hands over my face. Seeing Will walking over, I take and break down letting the sobs escape my lips. Feeling his arms go around me, I try to push him away as he grabs me, and holds me tight. "Why did this happen to her?" I whisper through my tears. "We were just days from being married, and beginning our lives as one." I look at my brother as we stand there.

"I don't know why it happened, Jay." Will stops. "But the man responsible is out there. Right now you need to focus on finding that son of a bitch, and getting justice for Avery." Will tells me.

My brother was right, I needed to find Spencer. I needed to get his ass, locked away and get justice. For, Avery.
