Lando picked Amelie up from the airport and drove her to her hotel.

"I have practice, you should come" Lando said standing in the girl's room.

"Not now, I'm exhausted. But I'll go to the qualifying later" she said with a tired smile.

"Promise?"

"Promise" they hugged and Lando turned around before leaving. "You should figure things out with Charles, he hasn't been concentrated on practice. And something tells me it's because of you" Amelie sighed and nodded.

Once Lando was out of the room the girl lay down on her bed, closed her eyes and went off into dreamland.

...

When Amelie got to the McLaren garage the race had already started. Lando had asked her to stay there, because ever since her dad had been brought to the picture again her panic attacks got worse. Even though she was better now and in a safe and familiar place Lando didn't want to risk it. He didn't want the girl to be alone just in case.

The girl quietly waved and said hi to everyone and sat on an available seat watching the race attentively.

When it ended Lando was in 8th place, while Charles was Q1 along with Carlos and Max in Q2 and Q3.

The girl went to hug Lando. "Hey you were great, this was great alright?" the girl said, she knew this boy better than she knew herself. And right now he was feeling down. Like he could've done better. He was like that, ever since he was a kid. The boy always thought he could be better, like what he did was never enough.

"I really hope you're right" Lando said.

"And I mean 8 is great. You did great. I'm proud of you" she said and hugged him tightly.
Meanwhile her eyes spotted Charles. The girl broke from Lando's arms. "I'll be right back ok?" She said and started making her way to the Ferrari driver.

Charles spotted the girl from afar and their eyes locked. Amelie felt like she couldn't breath and the whole world disappeared. She didn't even know if she was still walking, she lost all control over her body.

But as a matter of fact she was, because Charles and her became inches apart. He smiled and she smiled back at him. Mel pulled him in for a hug. "Congratulations" she whispered. Outside all everyone could see was two people hugging but inside Charles was a wreck of nerves.

"Thank you" he mumbled quietly. "I gotta go, but I'm really happy for you. You deserve it" she said and started to walk away, but before she was out of his sight, he called her name. Charles made his way to her. "Wait Mel! Could you stay? Just a bit longer? I'll find you outside" Amelie bit her inner cheek thinking.

At the same time she didn't like to have to be in the company of so many people, it was just a few more moments. "Ok, yeah. Be quick" she said and walked away. While Charles watched her leave like he was truly hypnotised by her.
He didn't know what would happen if he told her he liked her. But if there was one thing he was sure of, was that Amelie Vernier was going to be his end.
