"I took a chance, I took a shot
And you might think I'm bulletproof, but I'm not
You took a swing, I took it hard
And down here from the ground, I see who you are"

...

"I love you" she yelled and he stopped on his spot. "I've been meaning to tell you this for I don't even know how long. But I love you. Like really love you. Like heads over heels in love with you. And for some fucked up reason I push away the people I love, so that I don't get hurt. I just didn't think it would hurt even more to not be with you" she continued and tears welled up in her eyes.

The girl stood behind Charles inches away from his car.

"The day that you sent me the voicemail I was calling you to tell you this but you didn't pick up and then I heard the voicemail, and it was so hard to think that you were hurting and I was the reason. That I just didn't want to hurt you more so I stopped calling and texting and tried to move on with my life. But the truth is I can't. I can't stop thinking about you. And it feels like no matter what I always end up in the same place with you. And honestly I don't even mind because the only thing I care about is that I get to keep seeing you. Even if you're not mine" she finished feeling like a weight had gone off her shoulders.

Charles scoffed, before turning around grabbing the girl by her arms and smashing her against his car. Careful to not hurt her.

"You think you can just come here and say some pretty things?" Amelie frowned, that was not the reaction she was expecting. "I didn't- Charles that was not my intention. At all" she told him.

"Fuck you really are clueless aren't you?" Charles said with a bitter tone that took Amelie by surprise. As he squeezed her arms tighter and she trembled in his grip.

"Charles, stop" she warned him. But he didn't let go.

"No, do you have any idea of what you do? You think that you can hurt other people and they'll just be there when you want them?" He continued and his grip tightened. "Charles let go" she told him again but he couldn't stop. It was like he wasn't even listening to her.

"They're not. And I'm tired of this cat and mouse chase. So just go back inside, live your life and let me live mine" he yelled and slammed her against the car again this time hurting her. His grip on her arms became even more strong that ended up actually hurting the girl.

"I said let go! You're hurting me!" She yelled back and forced herself out of his grip. When he heard her last words it was like something shifted. He looked at her arms and saw the marks, and he freaked out.

"I'm sorry. I didn't think. I- are you ok? Did I- Fuck I'm sorry. I-" he said rambling.

"It's fine. It's ok, I'm fine" she couldn't say anything. She didn't know what to say. She saw it. He wanted to hurt her. As bad as she hurt him.

They just sat in silence. Apparently that was their thing. Charles hands still grabbing Amelie's arms. Her back still slammed against the car.

They looked at each other for a few seconds before Amelie kissed him. He was taken by surprise but eventually corresponded.

This time the kiss was different. It was calm as passionate. Like they had all the time in the world. It contained all the unspoken words and feelings. When they ran out of breath, they separated their mouths and stayed silent before Charles pulled her in for another kiss.

But quickly they separated their lips when they heard Phoebe yelling for Mel's name.

"I'm here!" Mel yelled back and got out for under Charles so that the girl could see her as Charles rested his back against his car.

"There you are. Oh my God are you ok?" Her best friend said looking at the marks on her arms.

"What?" Mel asked and then looked at where Phoebe was staring. "Oh this. Yeah I'm fine. It's nothing. Look now it's not a great time" Mel told Phoebe.

"Did that son of a bitch hurt you?" She asked her friend pointing a finger at Charles. "Because if he did, tell me. I'm breaking every single bone in his little body until he's begging me to stop" She said walking towards the guy, but Amelie stopped her, knowing damn well her friend was capable of doing it.

"No, Phoebe trust me. It's fine. I'm fine. I promise" she said looking into her friend's eyes.

"Ok" Phoebe hesitated. "Then come back inside, we're playing seven minutes in heaven" She said and grabbed her friend's hand pulling Mel with her. Mel made her way inside slowly, before taking a little glance towards Charles and stopping.

"I can't. I'm sorry, I just need to figure that out first" The girl said pointing with her head at Charles. Phoebe sighed.

"Mel just promise me you won't let him touch you like that again. After everything you've been through because of your father, don't let history repeat itself" Phoebe whispered to her friend.

"I won't. I promise" Mel told her friend and she nodded making her way inside alone. Mel took a minute to take a deep breath and make her way towards Charles

"We need to talk. But not here"

...
