Jin-ji is a bubbly, kind and lovely young lady, but her father was quite the opposite. Since the death of her mother, he didn't have time to spend time with his daughter. If they were together in one roof, he would often neglected her. He often sees her as a mistake ever since that day, even if she is doing a good or bad thing.
But nonetheless, she still loves her father. Maybe one day, she'll have enough of her father being neglected for her.
Maybe one day.
Anyways, she's now home from her school and with her father around, that means that she'll spend time with him. What's better for her was that the final exam results were officially released and she was on first place, A plus in fact.
She got excited to show him the results, thinking that she would finally see her father being proud of her but instead, it's quite the opposite.
"You should do better results than this.," her father said. "You're a failure."
There it is again but it was okay at the start. Jin-ji have used to hear her father saying this in front of her when it comes to achiving high scores at exams.
"You're not enough for that"
"You need to do better"
"Even with that score, you're still a failure"
"You should do better results that that."
"I'll never be proud of you if you do better."
That's always been those words her father have always been said when it comes to school but now, she's done with those now.
"Why you don't even be proud of me?," Jin-ji now asked her father. Tears have started to fall in her eyes. "I've always do my best just to make you proud but all I would get is nothing?"
"You're fighting back, huh?"
"I'm not, it's just you don't have any time for me at all."
"It's because you are the reason why your eomma died!!," her father shouted.
Jin-ji was shocked. She never heard those words coming from her father's mouth.
"Me? Why? I was never at fault at this."
"Yes, you are the reason why.," her father said, adding more insult to injury into Jin-ji's heart. "Your mother is always been at your side all the time ever since you were born."
The girl had no words to say at all. She never thought her father would have said that and there it is.
"Now, you need to stay in your bedroom all the time until you do better.," her father said. But the girl is outright done with her father.
"You know what, I'm done with you neglecting me.," Jin-ji started, getting her voice higher word by word.
"Neglecting you? You're the one who's neglecting me!," her father shouted. "Don't make this your story because this is my story."
"Your story? Jeongmal-yo, appa?," Jin-ji shouted back. She's already done with all the neglecting she have been receiving. "You always feel that you're the one who should make the rules but after what I've seen and feel at school, I learned that every single person have their own rules. You're just a strict father to me."
She then showned her exam papers to her father. "See, dad? I learned everything because I studied my best and my friends helping me, thus hitting high scores."
Because of anger, her father slapped her. "Liar!! I'm not a strict father, you're just a stubborn person!!," he shouted again.
Jin-ji felt the slap from her right cheek. Heartbreak kicked into her body and because of it she left, not to her room but to the outside.
