"They abandoned us, right? Did they?," Hyo-ryeong asked as they watch the helicopter flew away.
The same helicopter that brang them hope have now been flew far away from them as soon as possible, making themselves felt betrayed and hopeless after what happened earlier.
"No one coming to save us now, right?," she asked again, making most of them looking down as their hope for escape have once again been lost.
"Why did they do that?," Joon-yeong was the next to ask.
It was not their fault that they were given the hope to escape from a school full of zombies but that hope became a false narrative after they backed out of it.
"Maybe they thought that we were zombies.," Wu-jin said. "They really thought that all of us here are already dead.," Gyeong-su added.
I-sak and Jin-ji were offended by what he said but it didn't matter if they would argue with him at all. In fact, the vice president thought it was the general's fault why they given them that false hope. The former of the female hambies on the other hand, thought that it was their fault why the officers left them.
"If we were zombies by now, they would have killed us then.," Joon-yeong said, dismissing both claims. "They would have left without killing us.," he added.
"I would doubt that the officer is so sorry for what he did.," Gyeong-su then added, also dismissing the thought he just said eariler.
Jung then out of emotion, Cheong-san kicked the remains of the bonfire. It's already useless for him that they were about to be rescued after what just happened earlier.
Everyone were still in stun silence after what happened but Nam-hyun and Su-hyeok tried to calm the boy down. "Yah, what are you doing?," the latter asked.
"It's useless. No one is coming. It's already pointless now that no one is coming.," Cheong-san answered before kicking the SOS sign and then shout out of frustration.
When will hope will finally be within reach?
----------
A few minutes after the helicopters left them alone and the clouds have started to rumble and roared in fury. Thuderstorms is now expected within a few minutes.
That sudden thunder makes both Jin-ji and I-sak down to the ground, covering their ears in pain. That lead to both Nam-ra and On-jo kneling down beside them, followed by Su-hyeok, who kneld beside the vice president.
"Jamae! Are you okay?," he asked. "My ears hurt so much.," Jin-ji told him and Nam-ra.
I-sak, on the other hand, also suffered the same. "On-jo-ah. I felt like my ears hurt.," she told her best friend.
Both had their eyes shut and covering their ears, trying to conseal the pain they're suffering. Well, that was the risk of being a hambie.
After a while, all the two heard is shreading fabric and a few seconds later, both Nam-ra and Su-hyeok gave Jin-ji something: ear plugs made of green fabric. Not just any green fabric, the green fabric from the uniform. The vice president then looked at the class president's uniform, same goes for her older brother. The sleeves of their uniforms are torned.
Nam-ra and Su-hyeok looked at each other in confusion. They didn't even know that they are using the same tactic for the girl until now. "You should gave that to I-sak. I already promise her to protect her whatever happens.," the class president told.
Nam-ra then proceeded to gave the inprovised earphones to her partner, who just looked at it before putting it on. Although it did not silenced the noise in her surroundings, it did lessen the noise around her, so she smiled at her. Su-hyeok would then approach his little sister.
