The East High Drama Club Students, were currently walking to their first rehearsal's for the new film.
"This is so official. There's a sign on the door." Ashlyn says, as they get to the auditorium.
"What do we do? Do we knock? Make a grande entrance?" Alice asks. "Like what do they do in Hollywood?"
"You guys we're actually rehearsing for 'High School Musical 4'." Gina says.
"Hollywood. More like Holly- Will." Ricky says, causing everyone to go silent. "Sorry guys, I'm jus really excited."
"I thought it was kind of funny." Gina says placing a hand on Ricky's upper arm.
Summer tries not to react, but she couldn't help but send the girl a small glare. This was most definitely the worse part about a secret relationship.
"Thanks." Ricky says, with an awkward laugh, glancing at Summer, an uncomfortable look on his face.
"My college applications are gonna love this." Kourtney says. "Kourtney Greene, scholar, philanthropist, Hollywood actress!"
"Obviously my bone structure was built for the big screen, but is anyone concerned that we have auditions for Miss Jenn in an hour?" Carlos asks.
"Nope. That's when this rehearsal ends." Ricky says, rolling his shoulder back so Gina would take her hand off his arm. "So we'll be warmed up and ready to go and in Wildcat mode."
"Featured background?" A women asks opening the door.
"Yes!" They all say.
"You're late. Why didn't you knock?" The women asks.
"Funny story..." Stephanie says.
"Time is money." The women says, before walking back into the room.
The other's following.
Ricky stopping by the door looking back at Summer.
"Hey, am I allowed to stand next to you in there?" Ricky asks.
"They can see us dancing, they just can't see us kissing." Summer says.
"Right. Still trying to learn the secret relationship rules." Ricky says, causing Summer to laugh lightly. "Meanwhile, can't stop picturing you and me as Gabriella and Troy again."
"Don't jinx it." Summer tells him.
"Are you guys coming in?" Ashlyn asks pocking her head round the door.
"Yeah, I was just helping Ricky.... tie his shoe." Summer says.
"Okay." Ashlyn says.
"I think Gina and her bad improve is rubbing off on you." Ricky says, after Ashlyn had left.
"Stop." Summer says laughing, before walking through the door, Ricky following her."So you're excused from class this afternoon. I'm Krystal, the choreographer for the movie, and I've got two hours to teach you this dance combination." The women, who found them outside, explains.
"We thought this was just an hour, 'cause we really need this theater." Ricky says.
"That's what I was talking about." Carlos says.
"First rule of being an extra. No questions or talking unless it's an emergency." Krystal says."We shoot this in a couple of weeks. Confidentially, this is the big high school reunion song, headlined by Mo, Lucas and Corbin."
"I love how everyone keeps calling Monique 'Mo'." Ashlyn says. "I'm sorry, I talked."
"Krystal, I'd like to use an emergency question." Ricky says. "If we theoretically had an audition here for our school musical in an hour..."
"Then theoretically, the director will laugh, that you think a school musical is more important, then her film." Krystal tells him.
"Right, but..." Ricky starts.
"We're honoured to be here Krystal." Summer says, before sending her boyfriend an 'Are you crazy' look.
"Okay, so, here we go. A five, six, seven, eight." Krystal says before doing to dance. "Now, I know I taught that fast..."
"And a five, six, seven eight." Gina shouts.
The group does the dance perfectly.
"Um, okay? Where did you guys come from?" Krystal asks.
"Miss Jenn's drama class." Ricky says, raising his hand.
"If I may." A women says walking in. "I'm Quinn Robbins. I'm the director of this film. Some of you may know me from my Sundance runner-up movie about the global recession of 2007 entitled 'Where Has All The Money Gone?'
Ashlyn claps.
"Wonderful film." Ashlyn says.
"Thank you." Quinn says. "To the featured background boy who just spoke. I don't know what a 'Miss Jenn' is, but I do know what a Miss Darbus is because I spent all of last night in Salt Lake City corporate housing drinking $13 water bottles and watching the 'High School Musical' trilogy." Ellie raises her hand. "Yes."
"Have you not seen them before?" Ellie asks.
"I wanted to be fresh when pitching the 'High School Musical 4' movie, so no, I hadn't technically 'seen' the original films." Quinn says.
"She hadn't seen them?" Carlos asks.
"Quinn, these kids are unbelievably quick. I'll be done teaching them the combination in five minutes." Krystal says.
"Okay great. Let's just see if we can get Mack and Dani on set early." Quinn says. "Where are the PA's? Do we have enough PA's?"
"Hey, um, I'm actually here early." Mack says walking up the steps to the stage.
"You weren't called for another two hours." Quinn says.
"Whenever I'm first on the call sheet, I like to hang out on set, just in case somebody needs me." Mack says walking over. "A pretty famous actor taught me that."
"Neil Patrick harris?" Summer asks, recalling a conversation the two had had in Cali the week before.
"Yep." Mack says.
"Wow." All the others say.
"This guy." Ricky says.
Summer looks back at him.
"Be nice." Summer whispers.
"Feel free to hang on the side." Krystal tells Mack, as Summer turns back around. "I'm gonna finish teaching the feature background this choreography then we'll add you and Dani."
"FYI, it might be a minute. Dani posted that her cooperate apartment doesn't have steam showers." Kourtney says. "Horrific, I know. So she asked her followers to help pick which hotel to stay at."
"Dani's lucky she's being housed. When I shot 'Where Has All The Money Gone?' I spent 18 days on a friends couch in Buswick. The couch got bed bugs. It caused a breakout on set. That was a movie."
"Miss Quinn, did you movie win any Oscars?" Emmy asks.
Quinn then whispers something to Krystal, who walks over to Emmy, as Quinn leaves.
"I'm sorry my dear, you've been let go from the project." Krystal tells the young girl.
"What?" Emmy asks, as multiple of the others gasp.
"If it makes you feel any better, Quinn is famous for firing at least one actor per week on her films." Krystal says.
"Thank you, but it doesn't make me feel better." Emmy says.
"We've still got the school musical, Emmy." Ricky says. "Turn that frown upside down."
"Tell my story." Emmy says, reaching out to the others as she walks backwards.
"Sorry." The others say.
"We love you, Em." Summer says.
"Thoughts and prayers, love." Kourtney says. The group had got done with the choreography and were currently stood off to the side. Summer was stretching when Ricky walked over to her, pretending to bump into her.
"Woah. Sorry, Sum." Ricky says jokingly, causing Summer to laugh.
"I cannot believe that they fired Emmy." Summer says.
"Only explanation is Hollywood is unfair and devastating." Ricky says.
"But you gotta admit, today is also kind of thrilling." Summer says.
"We haven't even been cast as Troy and Gabriella yet." Ricky says nudging her arm, causing them both to laugh.
Both of them unaware that they had feature extra number 7, and a movie star's eyes on them.
"Yeah?" Summer asks.
"It will be like that one episode of 'Mark and Spark', where Spark and his girlfriend Lark, both win a the county fair dog show." Ricky says.
"I thought you said you've never seen it." Summer says.
"There's a chance I fell down a rabbit hole and hate- watched all of season 1 last night." Ricky says. "Plus significant episodes of season 2 through 6. It was awful."
"Okay. I know it was cringe, but that show was my one consistent thing growing up. Every that went on with my parents, not having many friends, until I met you. That show helped me through it all." Summer says, causing Ricky to instantly regret making fun of it. But that soon changed when Summer smiled brightly, placing a hand on his arm, which unlike he did with the Gina earlier, he happily let it stay there. "Let's go for a W-A-L-K, I'll wait the whole dog day."
"Oh my god, she memorised the theme song. Red flag." Ricky says jokingly, causing them both to laugh.
While Summer was laughing she looked over and saw Miss Jenn.
"Oh my god." Summer says holding back a laugh, as she sees Miss Jenn in a brown wig and glasses.
"What?" Ricky asks, causing Summer to point to Miss Jenn.
"Hey fellow teen extras." Miss Jenn says, as Summer, Ellie, Ricky and Kourtney walk over. "It's me Miss Jenn."
"What?" Ricky asks trying to sound surprised.
"Miss, Jenn, are you okay?" Ellie asks.
"Quinn stole the auditorium from us, as you can see." Miss Jenn says. "So I wanted to spread the word that we're doing auditions in the rehearsal room now. So, come quick."
"For sure." Kourtney says.
"The rehearsals running a little longer then we thought though." Summer says. "Like, all afternoon."
Miss Jenn gasps.
"Don't worry, I can sneak everyone out one at a time without the director knowing." Ricky says.
"We need all the bodies we can get. We're barely filling out the cast." Miss Jenn says. "Apparently, most of the school signed up to be extra's in the movie."
"About that..." Kourtney says.
"Kourtney, don't tell me you're second guessing the musical." Miss Jenn says.
"I might be too busy. I'm applying to all the Ivy's my laptop might explode. It's a lot y'all." Kourtney says.
"Come on, Kourt. It's senior year." Summer says.
"See you in the rehearsal room?" Ricky asks Miss Jenn.
"Sadly yes. Hollywood is unfair and devastating." Miss jenn says.
"See I keep saying that." Ricky says, as Miss jenn leaves.
Summer laughs and shakes her head, walking over to Ashlyn.
"Hey Ash." Summer says.
"Hey." Ashlyn replies. "So, you and Ricky?"
"Did he tell Big Red or something? How did you know?" Summer asks.
"I didn't." Ashlyn says. "But I do now."
"Ash, please don't tell anyone." Summer says.
"Relax, Sum. I won't." Ashlyn says.
"Okay, everyone's good with my plan." Ricky says walking over to Summer and Ashlyn.
"Excuse me, featured background number three?" Krystal says.
"Think she's talking to you, Sum." Ricky says.
Summer looks down. She was in fact featured background number Three.
