'When you are not supposed to find love, then, it suddenly chases after you.'
I...
Finally, after scanning the entire vicinity, Ram found Olivia Jean leaning her lower body against the hood of his car. He sighed in relief and calculated his slow steps while observing that the woman was apparently staring into space while wiping those tears on her face. When he was a few steps away from the car, he grunted loudly announcing his presence. Olivia Jean snapped her head in his direction, confusion written all over her face for a few seconds, and when she realized that it was Ram, she immediately frowned at him while erasing any trace of tears on her face again with the back of her hand.
Olivia Jean looked away but without leaving where she was and Ram thought this was a good sign.
She didn't leave! Good! Shit! Now, what?
Again, slowly, he deliberated against himself if this was a good move but did it anyway. He seated himself beside her, at least a few inches away, as silence filled the unspoken words between them.
A few seconds later Ram pulled out a box of a branded cigarette that he kept in his pocket. He was thinking of quitting it but the stressful situation was calling him to do it. He lit one and as he blew the smoke on the air, he realized that he hadn't been with a woman in his life whom he spent quietude like this because normally, they'd be flirting and would end under his sheets, just between in someone else's legs not really knowing the name of the other person. He didn't know what to say next.
" Do you smoke? Here. "
He offered. He felt that the woman stiffened and didn't react. He sighed again because he knew he wasn't really good with these types of conversations. He has mastered the rule of flirtation and touching, but being with a woman who obviously harbored hatred against him is a newly discovered form of conversation that he wished it was a business discussion instead. He'd win. He hasn't lost and he will never ever.
However, Olivia Jean Montgomery is a different kind of woman and business, he finally theorized. He's struggling and sorely embarrassing himself. So, damn it! He was about to place the cigarette back in his pocket when, surprisingly, the woman faced him.
" I do not. But I'll have one. "
