chapter eleven. the dinner
THE whole of the royal family had decided for King Viserys' sake to have a family dinner.
Alaessa sat in her bed chambers, at her desk putting in earrings, as she finished her look for dinner.
"You look gorgeous if it isn't obvious," Aemond' voice caused her to smile and turn her head towards him, "My love."
He walked towards her, placing a kiss upon her forehead and bent down to her level, "This will not end badly, right?" Alaessa laughed, "Our mothers are not the friends they once were."
Aemond grinned, and his hand went to her neck to touch her necklace he'd gotten her, before he stood back up.
Aemond and Alaessa walked arm in arm to the dinning hall, where the royal family had already gathered, except King Viserys.
Rhaenyra had taken a seat with her husband Prince Daemon by her side, while Alaessa and Aemond were seated together. Helaena and Aegon were seated together, Jacaerys and his betrothed and Lucerys with his.
The king had finally came and was seated between Queen Alicent and Princess Rhaenyra, Alaessa smiled at Aemond, while the king started to talk, "How good it is... to see you all tonight... together," The King grinned upon seeing his dear family together all again.
"Prayer before we begin?" Queen Alicent asked her husband, Alaessa knew what to do as it wasn't her first time doing prayers with Queen Alicent.
Alicent started the prayer, "May the Mother smile down on this gathering with love. May the Smith mend the bonds that have been broken for far too long," Alaessa put her two hand's together to pray as she closed her eyes, "And to Vaemond Velaryon, may the gods give him rest," Alaessa opened her eyes to see if anyone reacted to the Queens words and she saw Prince Daemon meet her eye and smirk.
Ser Vaemond had it coming.
Once Queen Alicent was done giving the prayer, "This is an occasion for celebration, it seems. My grandsons, Jace and Luke, will marry their cousins, Baela and Rhaena, further strengthening the bond between our houses. A toast to the young Princes... and their betrothed."
Everyone raised their glasses, "Hear! Hear!" Alaessa hears Daemon speak louder then anyone, "Let us toast as well Prince Jacaerys... the future Lord of the Tides," Alaessa smiled at her brother and raised her cup of wine to him, "Hear! Hear!" Rhaenyra spoke loudly.
Alaessa grinned at her family, enjoying her moment with them. The king stood up, "It both gladdens my heart and fills me with sorrow to see these faces around the table. The faces most dear to me in all the world... yet grown so distant from each other... in the years past," The king then took off his mask that hid his one part of his face that was rotten and gone.
