chapter five. the funeral

LADY Laena Velaryon had died, it was told from Dragonfire. Princess Alaessa had grown sad at hearing the death of her aunt she'd never met. Though she'd heard great stories of her from her father.

The whole family had been brought back together for the funeral of Lady Laena Velaryon, they were all gathered together on the cliffs of High Tide.

Ser Vaemond was speaking in high Valyrian, as the whole family stood silently looking at the statue of Laena as they were going to pull it in the water, Alaessa stood next to her betrothed, as her eyes kept wandering to her mothers, whom she couldn't wait to embrace.

After the speech of Vaemond, the statue of Lady Laena was pulled into the sea. Everyone slowly went to castle in Driftmark to drink and show more respect.

Dragon's circled the sky, as Alaessa pushed pass many people to find Rhaenyra, "Mother!" She called, and Rhaenyra's could hear her small voice in the loud crowd of Velaryon'.

"Sweet girl."

Alaessa had embraced her mother within seconds, wasting no time by taking in her smell, her hands feeing her dress.

"I've missed you!"

Rhaenyra smiled and pulled away from her to place a kiss on her head, not once but many times, "I've dreamed of you every night since."

The two stayed together in comfort, remembering each other company, "Alaessa?"

"Yes mother?"

Rhaenyra's eyes looked around, "Have you seen your father?" Alaessa did look around, not seeing anyone that looked like Laenor, "No."

"I do love you, sweet girl," Rhaenyra whispers to her daughter, stroking Alaessa hair, " I love you mother," Alaessa whispers back.

Rhaenyra smiled at her daughter and went to say something to her but then stopped when she saw Prince Aemond standing behind her wanting to speak to Alaessa.

"I'll leave you two," Rhaenyra mumbled before giving her daughter a sweet smile and walking off to grab more wine, "I didn't know the woman but I still grief for her," Alaessa uttered to Aemond who's standing behind her while looking at her with his hands behind his back.

Alaessa turned to Aemond, "I fear to know that grief is good, she was your aunt," Aemond mumbled to her, in which Alaessa give him a sad smile, the two had begun to walk toward the wall.

The Velaryon girl turned to the sea and she then looks somewhere else and sees her father standing in the water, "My poor father..." Alaessa uttered, "He's not taking his sisters death good."
