chapter seven. alaessa' name day

KINGS LANDING, 130 AC

IT had been four years since the issued of Driftmark. Princess Alaessa Velaryon was turning ten and five on the morrow. Queen Alicent Hightower had been waiting for Alaessa to bled, but on the morrow she'd be of age to wed Prince Aemond.

Alaessa was in the guards with Lady Elaena, the two linked arms as the weight of the morrow weighed Alaessa' heart.

"Cheer up Alaessa."

Alaessa frowned and turned her head to her childhood companion, "How can I? On the morrow my fate is made up for me."

Elaena looked down, "Isn't Princess Rhaenyra coming to your name day celebration?"

Alaessa grinned upon hearing about her mother, "Upon my name day celebration my mother will be coming from Dragonstone. With my new brothers."

Durning the four years of Alaessa being in Kings Landing, Ser Laenor Velaryon was dead— murdered they say. Rhaenyra had remarried, and had two sons with Prince Daemon Targaryen.

"I've heard the new of Princess Rhaenyra birthing another son this year."

Alaessa smiled, "Yes. She named him after my grandsire."

The two continued their walk around the gardens, laughing and giggling.

On the morrow, Rhaenyra had flown her and her family in all for her daughter's name day, bring her young sons, Jacaerys, Lucerys and Daemon.

"Good day, father."

Rhaenyra embraced her father, his sickness had begun to worsen, and Rhaenyra frowned upon seeing his condition.

"Where is my daughter?"

"Her bed chambers, she'd hadn't left it yet."

Rhaenyra placed her babe into the arms of the handmaidens, and went off to find her daughter.

Alaessa stared at herself in the mirror, Lady Elaena behind her, as she pulled at the strings of her dress to tighten them. Before Alaessa reached for Elaena' arms and pulled them around her to hold, Elaena leaned her head on Alaessa' shoulder, "Alaessa, happy name day."

Alaessa turned only her head and flashed her a smile, "I appreciate your kind words Elaena."

The chamber door opened, causing the Lady and Princess to turn to see who entered, when Alaessa laid her eyes upon her mother she could help but let her mouth drop. Elaena stepped back as she watched her dear friend.
