Elijah didn't know if he was losing his mind.

It felt like Ethan and Blaze were hell-bent on following him. He found them everywhere. Ever since he saw them near the coffee shop, they seemed to be always lurking nearby.

Didn't they have main character things to attend to? He couldn't believe they were so—not busy.

He'd be walking to class, and there they were, across the quad. Grabbing a quick bite in the cafeteria, and they'd be at a nearby table. Even in the library, their presence loomed over him, a constant reminder of his tangled past and fractured memories.

What did they want from him? He hadn't done anything to warrant their full attention—at least not since he was reborn. It was an apology and he working together with Ethan. That was it. Every time he caught them staring, a spike of panic hit him. Were they trying to figure him out? Were they looking for something that didn't exist?

Elijah's mind spun with questions and doubts, each encounter adding to his growing unease. The familiarity of their faces and the intensity of their gazes unsettled him. It was as if they were waiting for him to slip, to reveal something he himself didn't understand.

One day, as he hurried to his next class, he glanced over his shoulder and saw them again. Ethan and Blaze, standing together, their eyes locked on him. His heart raced, and he quickened his pace, desperate to escape their eyes.

What were they hoping to find? What did they expect him to remember? Elijah shook his head, trying to clear the fog of confusion. He had to focus, to stay grounded in the present, but their constant presence made it nearly impossible.

They had definitely been following Elijah.

Everywhere he went, they went.

They were getting like that again.

Interested.

But you couldn't blame them, could you? Curiosity was the most relevant characteristic of a human being. They saw Elijah changing again, and of course, they wanted to know what was going on.
