Ethan clenched his fists, frustration boiling just beneath his skin. Elijah had left—just like that. Over a stupid piece of chocolate. Stupid fucking chocolate.
If eating that chocolate meant Elijah wouldn't have looked at them like that, Ethan would've gladly risked it all. Damn his own impulsiveness.
Blaze was just as torn up. The guilt radiating from him was palpable, as if he thought this was all his fault. But it wasn't. They both knew that.
The universe, it seemed, had conspired against them. Everyone suddenly needed something, pulling them away from what truly mattered. It was like they were all following a script, each movement, each interruption, feeling orchestrated, almost too perfect in its timing.
There was a gnawing sense that something was terribly wrong—not just with Elijah, but with everything. People's actions, their words—they felt off, like pieces in a puzzle that didn't fit together no matter how hard they tried to make them.
Ethan couldn't shake the feeling that they were all trapped in a story they had no control over. And Elijah... he was slipping away, just when they had finally gotten him back.
Ethan's heart twisted painfully at the memory of Elijah's face before he bolted—the confusion, the fear. It wasn't supposed to be like this. They were supposed to be happy, together. But the harder they tried to hold on, the more everything seemed to unravel.
Elijah was theirs—he had always been theirs. But now, with every passing moment, Ethan felt him drifting further away, lost in a world that was becoming increasingly unrecognizable. And the worst part? Ethan couldn't shake the feeling that this was just the beginning of something much darker, something that could pull them all under.
He had to find out what was going on. The confusion, the flashes of memories that didn't belong to him—it was all too much. He couldn't just let it go, not anymore.
He knew exactly where to get the answers he needed. Elijah's house. The place where it had all started, the place that held the key to whatever twisted story he was now a part of.
