Chapter 37

Lizzie's POV
    Cleo leads me to find Wade. I still don't remember this guy but apparently he's in one of my classes? And he's a tech genius? Maybe he can help us figure out who sent the message to Josie. Once we get there, we explained everything to him and handed over Josie's phone. I know we need to be quick because if we aren't, Josie would be wondering where her phone was. I did steal it after all. But at the moment she was distracted and didn't know I took it.

He does his work on his computer, and says a bunch of things I don't understand, until he gets the name from the number.

"So the number belongs to a Alyssa C-" He starts but Cleo cuts him off.

"Don't even finish that name. I already know who you are talking about." Cleo said and looked annoyed.

"Thank you Wade, we appreciate it. I owe you one." Cleo says and grabs Josie's phone and leaves. I quickly followed her and wondered what the plan was.

"Okay who was it?" I asked, unsure of who Alyssa was.

"A girl who was friends with Hope in high school. I have heard about her but never knew why they stopped being friends. I think Hope had feelings for her at one time." Cleo explains. They must've spoken for a bit before they lost contact.

"Okay so we find her and get her to prove she did it and get it on a voice recording so we can show Josie." I say and Cleo nodded.

"Yeah that could work but who will do it? It needs to be someone she doesn't know so it wouldn't seem suspicious."

"Let me do it then. I can fake hate Hope real well." I say with a slight smirk.

"No, it can't be you or any of the sorority girls." Cleo says and I can't help but wonder why.

"Why can't I do it?" I asked her.

"Because you remember Dana, the girl Hope turned away from the sorority?"

"Vaguely but yeah."

"She's part of Alyssa's posse. If she remembers you, she could get suspicious and let Alyssa know. Same goes for anyone in the sorority. And it can't just be any student because I doubt they will do it, especially if they don't really like Hope much." Cleo may have a point.

"So we need an outsider. Someone who has never met Hope, or Alyssa. Someone willing to do it but where will we get a stranger to do it without being paid?" Cleo asks and instantly I get an idea. One I absolutely hate.

"I think I know someone." I say with a heavy sigh. I don't want to call her but I know she cares about Josie and wouldn't want her hurting. And I know she wouldn't do it for money because she would be doing it for Josie.

"Who? Do you really think they'll help?" Cleo asked me.

"I know they will if it means helping Josie. I just hate this idea."

"Who is it Lizzie? And why do you hate it so much?"

"Because I never wanted to speak to this person again. But I know she cares for Josie and she would do anything for her, even if it meant helping her get back with her girlfriend. Penelope Park.. Josie's ex." I say hesitantly.

"Are you sure she will do it and not try to steal Josie from Hope?"

"Oh she probably will try, but once she knows how much Hope means to Josie and how happy she makes her, she will do it. I know she screwed up and hurt my sister, but I know she cares enough to help so Josie isn't miserable for the rest of her life."

"Well then give her a call."

I sigh loudly as I pull Josie's phone out of my pocket again. I search through her contacts to find the She-Devil's number. I'm not sure why she kept her number but I know it's still in here. I scroll past many names and even saw one titled, 'kitty cat'? Oh god, is that a disgusting nickname that Josie gave to Hope? I might just throw up. Eventually my eyes land on Penelope Park. Should change it to bitch, or She-Devil, not her actual name.
