CHAPTER 1; CORE MEMORIES.

•------------------------•

And as the sun began to set; Rae motioned to Lynney to start getting ready, since the two promised to walk back with each other. As Lynn set off towards the exit of the park; Nathan followed, confused on why they were leaving. "Sorry Nate! We have to go," She giggled, Rae nodded, "We'll be back tomorrow!" to which Nathan sadly nodded, "Love you Nate! We promise we'll be back! You can, and probably will hold it against us if we won't."

Nathan watched the two head off. Their matching boots clicking against the ground,
"I wish we could've brought him," Lynn sighed, to which Rae shook her head.
"No, we don't need him! Come on, you look like you're walking me home!" She smiled,
"Even if you don't know directions." Lynney rolled her eyes, and the walk became silent. Nightfall began to hit faster, and they were at an abrupt stop as the cars past. Lynn attempted to press the button to cross, but got her hand slapped away. "Let's just go, its fine." An unsured look appeared on her face, only for Rae to flash a reassuring smile as comfort. "I'll lead the way," She spoke bravely, walking since the cars were supposably gone.  Once almost crossing the second crosswalk, Rae turned to face Lynn, stopping in the road. "See! everything is fine, Lynn." Lynn began to giggle, rushing over to when she saw a light rushing down the road, speeding up. Rae, not paying attention and off in her own world, walked peacefully.

"Gray!" Lynn began to shout, tears brimming in her eyes as she tried to scream, attempting to wiggle out of the police officer's grasp. Once succeeded, she fell to her knee's, screaming at the loss of her friend. Remembering the sound of her Rae's skull being crushed by the larger car, her bones already being brittle as they were; cracking as each tire ran over. Worst part, the Driver was drunk. Hit on the brakes once after hearing the 'satisfying' sound of death.

---

The next day, Lynn and her parents headed inside the Willis home. All broken, and tired. As she sat down; she unlocked her phone only to see the messages from Nate, asking where Rae and her were, and asking if the two were okay as he heard sirens the direction they left from.  Those were from two hours ago. her breath hitched, as she quickly got up, only for Mr. Smith at the door with her friend, Nate. "Lynn? why are you here? Are you and Rae-.." She stopped him, pushing past him as she would quickly excuse herself, running off. Without realizing, she walked a little further, where Gray was killed. They were so close to Rae's home, if only-- It was her fault. Tears began to brim in her eyes, staring at the spot, the road where blood was oh so poorly cleaned up. She closed her eyes, tears began to slip down.

Opening them, to a dark night, Rae turning around in front of her. "It's not your fault, Lynn." The voice rung out. Lynn looked up, eyes meeting with Rae. She pinched herself hard, wincing she closed her eyes as she then opened them again. She screamed, seeing the body of her friend, just uncovered. And just like that, a hand touched her shoulder, and she fell to her knees.

--

"Lynn- Are you alright?" Nathan asked, staring at the girl as she embraced him in a sad hug. "Nate.. Nathan.." She tried to speak but couldn't find her voice. "She's dead.. Rae-" His eyes widened, and he hugged her tighter, she could hear his subtle, quiet cries.

Lynn awoke, that dream has been reoccurring since the night. She could still hear Gray's bones cracking and being fractured. Staring up at her ceiling, she began to get up, ignoring her phone as it buzzed. " Another shitty, fucking day." She groaned.
