1. Sir Leon -

"You know i could do this for you right?"
Merlin asked, bringing the cloth back up to the sword and rubbing in small circles.

"You're not my servant."
Leon shrugged, sharpening the blade of his sword.
"Besides, it's almost enjoyable."

Merlin raised his eyebrows, a judgemental expression on his face. Leon looks up at him and laughs gently.
"Perhaps not for you."
He continues to laugh as Merlin nods his head in an obvious manner

Merlin breathes on the blade, his warm breath cooling on the gleaming metal. Leon draws his own attention back to his sword.

"That isn't Arthur's?"
It's not really a question, more of a statement but it comes out with thick confusion.
"Gwaines."
Merlin huffs, bringing the sword up to the light and reflecting back the orange hue of fire.
"Cheeky sod."
Leon rolls his eyes.

"In his defence i did lose a bet."
Merlin sighs heavily, sheathing the sword and leaning it up against the wall before picking another in the pile.
Leon watches with a quirked eyebrow as Merlin begins to sharpen it.
"Lancelots."
Merlin answers before the question can be asked, a severely dejected look on his face.

"And i suppose that's the rest of the knights' equipment?"
He gestures towards the clump of swords, shields and armour.
Merlin hums, signifying that Leon is in fact correct with his assumptions.
"Some bet."
Leon picks up the rag Merlin had discarded.
"Some bet."
Merlin echos.

"It would be nice if there was an easier way to do this."
Leon comments after some time had passed.
He's leaning heavily agaisnt a pillar with his chest plate resting in his lap.

"I envy such a world."
Merlin says almost whistfully, he ignores the way Leon's eyes linger on him.
"Perhaps i could get Arthur to lose a bet."

Leon smiles softly,
"You'd be lucky."
Merlin knocks his head against the pillar, groaning as he rubs at it protectively.
"I suppose he'd have me in the stocks for merely suggesting it."
Leon nods, almost absentmindedly.
"And then some."

"This is nice."
Leon comments, carefully placing his chest plate and replacing its weight with his shield.
"Hm?"
Merlin makes a noise encouraging him to further explain.
"Me, you, this. It's nice."

Merlin meets his eyes,
"I suppose it is, we don't do it enough."
He coughs awkwardly and leans over to grasp onto the hilt of Mordreds sword.
"Talking that is, i think i clean enough for the kingdom."

Leon exhales sharply from his nose,
"I'm not even sure you're wrong."

"You know?"
Leon starts, putting down his shield and giving his full attention to Merlin.
"You know..."
Merlin draws out, also stilling his motion.

"I regret what i did when i was a knight under Uther."
He seems almost sheepish at the admission.
"You were, you are a nobel knight."
He means it genuinely.

Leon shakes his head and breathes out a shakey sigh.
"I'm not, at least i wasn't."
He brushes his curls away from his face.
"I could consider myself nobel now, but the way i treated people, treated you..it wasn't right, it wasn't nobel- at least by my definition."
The regret and embarrassment laced in the words thickens the atmosphere.

"You weren't ever that way inclined Leon."
The hidden meaning behind the emphasised word isn't lost on the knight.
"You were different to who you are now, but you were never that, never them."
