Day of the engagement (Saturday)
On Friday Vihaan went to his parents house where he helped in the preparations of the engagement.
Vihaan's POV:
I groggily stirred in my bed, roused from my slumber by the gentle voice of my mother. "Vihaan, it's 8:30 in the morning; time to wake up," she said with a warm smile. I rubbed my eyes and stretched, feeling the weight of sleep slowly lift from me. After freshening up, I made my way downstairs to the kitchen, where my mother and Chachi were already busy preparing breakfast. I greeted them with a smile, saying, "Good morning, my beautiful ladies."
As I turned, I saw my father and Chachu sitting at the table, their eyes filled with affection for their wives. Chachi, always the mischievous one, asked me to wake up my cousin Riya, who was still asleep. With a grin, I headed to Riya's room, thinking of having some fun. I couldn't resist the temptation to throw a glass of water on her face, and as the water splashed, Riya jolted awake, startled. She saw me laughing and immediately chased me around the house, our laughter echoing through the house.
Seeking refuge, I hid behind Mumma, who scolded Riya for chasing me around. Riya, still dripping from the water, complained to Papa about my prank. Papa, not wanting to take sides, scolded me and asked Riya to go freshen up. Amidst all the commotion, Yash bhai woke up and came downstairs for breakfast, joining in our lively family morning.
At the breakfast table, the entire family couldn't resist teasing Yash bhai about his engagement ceremony happening later in the day. With a mischievous glint in my eye, I leaned in and said, "Yash bhai, are you sure you remember your lines for today? You're not going to forget your fiancee's name, are you?" The whole family joined in, and Yash bhai blushed and tried to hide his excitement behind his morning tea.
After a hearty breakfast, Riya and I were assigned the task of some last-minute shopping. We returned home around 1 p.m., just in time for lunch. As everyone dispersed to their rooms for a little rest before the evening's festivities, I decided to call my best friends, Rahul and Shreya, to confirm their attendance at the engagement ceremony. We chatted for a while and ended the call.
Feeling a bit bored, I ventured into Riya's room, only to find her at the dressing table, getting ready for the evening. Yash bhai was sprawled lazily on the bed, and it seemed he had the same idea as me - to tease Riya a bit before the ceremony. I walked in and asked, "Hey bhai, Apne riya ko kahi dekha hai?" ("Hey, brother. Have you seen Riya around?")
He glanced at Riya in the mirror and replied, "Ha, idhar hi toh khadi hai mirror ke samne." ("Yes, she's right here, in front of the mirror")
I couldn't resist and faked a gasp, saying dramatically, "This can't be Riya! Hamesha chipkali jaise dikhne wali Riya aaj itni khoobsurat lag rahi hai?"("She looks so pretty, and Riya usually resembles a lizard!")
Riya retaliated by swatting both of us with a makeup sponge and a brush, and we burst into fits of laughter, our playful banter filling the room with joy.
That is how Mumma found us. Upon seeing me and bhai still in our normal clothes she scolded us "Kitni baar kaha hai ready ho jao warna late ho jaoge, iss ghar mai meri baat koi nahi sunta?"("How many times should I ask you both to get ready? Nobody listens to me in this house")
"Sorry Mumma" me and Yash bhai say at the same time and go to our rooms to get ready.
Once I got ready in the nice light blue kurta and white pants. I styled my hair. Then I wore my accessories like my rings, my chain, and my watch. Then I sprayed a little perfume. And I was good to go.
