It takes very little for someone's life to turn into shit.

Seonghwa learned just how quickly that could happen.

When he woke up the next morning, he was alone.

The bed was cold, meaning Hongjoong left hours ago.

Seonghwa vaguely remembered saying something to the ravenette after they both came, but couldn't pinpoint what it was exactly.

He called Hongjoong later that day, but he didn't answer.

Seonghwa tried texting him.

There was still no response.

Seonghwa was worried.

Was Hongjoong upset about something?

Did he do something wrong?

Two days later, Seonghwa saw Hongjoong in their creative writing class.

He looked terrible.

His eyes were dark, and his face looked pale.

"Hongjoong?" Seonghwa called out softly, almost a whisper.

Hongjoong looked up, giving him a smile that didn't quite reach his eyes. "Good morning, hyung."

"Are you okay? I've been trying to get in touch with you." Seonghwa sat in his usual seat beside Hongjoong.

"Ah, sorry." Hongjoong scratched the back of his head. "I kinda threw myself into studying. Finals start next week, y'know."

"Yeah..."

Seonghwa wasn't stupid.

He knew there was more to it than that.

"Well, make sure you're eating and getting enough sleep, alright?"

"I know, I know." Hongjoong sighed. "Studying's not the only thing I've been doing, though. The Raven Claw got in contact with me yesterday and asked if I wanted to do a set there for my mixtape after amateur night. So I've been preparing myself for that. I have to go to the club a few times before I actually perform so I can practice and stuff."

"Wow, really?!" All of Seonghwa's suspicion melted away. "That is awesome! When is it? I definitely wanna see you perform your own set!"

Hongjoong visibly relaxed. "December 17th. Yeosang is going to participate in amateur night, so you can cheer both of us on."

Seonghwa could barely contain his excitement as their class started.

He kept smiling to himself as he took notes.

Hongjoong, however, returned to his gloomy mood, gazing at his hyung's smile.

Shaking his head, he returned his focus back on the professor.

Hongjoong's behavior took a turn for the worse a couple of days later.

Yeosang repeatedly tapped his foot on the floor anxiously as he glanced at his digital clock.

4:52am.

Hongjoong had said that he would be back from the Raven Claw by 2am.

Where the hell was he?

Yeosang had fallen asleep hours ago, but awoke to find that Hongjoong has not yet returned.

Hongjoong had told him that he was going for his first rehearsal at the underground club for his set.

It was the same night as the Ladies' Night showcase, so Hongjoong decided to go to the club early before they began setup and watch the female artists perform.

Yeosang was worried.

He may be annoyed with Hongjoong's closeness with Seonghwa, but he was still his friend and roommate.

He wanted to make sure Hongjoong was okay.

He called the ravenette, but he didn't receive an answer.

Finally, at 6am, the door to their dorm room squeaked open, waking up a drowsy Yeosang.

He didn't realize that he had dozed off.

Hongjoong dropped his heavy backpack onto the ground.

Yeosang sat up in bed, preparing to lecture his friend when a flowery scent filled the room.

Wait... why does Hongjoong smell like perfume?

"Hongjoong?" Yeosang called quietly.

Hongjoong ignored him, tugging off his shirt and jeans.

Yeosang climbed down from the top bunk and turned on the light.

His eyes widened when he saw Hongjoong's chest was littered with hickeys.

Hongjoong pulled on his pajama shirt, hiding them from sight.

"Can you turn the damn light off?" The ravenette spat, glaring at his roommate. "I'm tired."

"Y-Yeah..." Yeosang turned off the light and quickly climbed up the ladder to the top bunk bed, fearing for his life.

Hongjoong looked utterly murderous, as if he was about to rip Yeosang's head off.

As Yeosang snuggled back under the covers, he tried to figure out what was wrong with Hongjoong.

It wasn't like him to stay out so late at night.

On a school night, no less.

He always went to bed at a reasonable hour since he had morning classes to go to.

Yeosang already knew that he wasn't with Seonghwa.

He had texted his hyung before falling back asleep, and he had replied that he had no idea where Hongjoong was.

He also threatened to murder Yeosang if he interrupted his beauty sleep again, but that wasn't important.

Yeosang felt in his gut that something was about to happen.

Something horrible.

He only hoped that whatever was going on didn't involve Seonghwa's feelings in any way.
