My first night sleeping at Paranorma Academy was a sleepless one. It was hard to wrap my brain around everything that had happened in the last three days. I was physically and mentally exhausted to dwell on all the supernatural occurrences. If I had known the supernatural was real, my reaction would have been different. But I couldn't care less right now.

No matter how I feel about anything, the world will keep moving on with or without me. The only problem is I don't feel like moving on yet. I want everything to stop and let me lay in bed. A metal clattering disrupted my thoughts, sounding like silverware hitting the ground.

I turned to the other side of the bed to find a shadowy figure staring at me. I was growing used to Fred's shadowed form, but I am surprised that he had kept his promise in suppressing his actual version of himself.

"Were you the one giving me sleep paralysis?" I said tiredly as I rubbed my eyes, trying to wake up. I was not motivated to get dressed, but I knew Fred wouldn't let me rest.

"I would never!" Fred gasped, astonished by the accusation.

"Also, I found my way to the cafeteria and got you a bunch of food so we can stock up and get the fuck out of this joint." Fred grinned, bundling everything in a sheet that was supposed to have kept me warm throughout the night.

For a second, I couldn't be more relieved to get the hell out of this school and figure out what actually happened to my mom. On the other hand, hearing what John had to say about Fred was not something I could not consider.

Fred wasn't my friend. He wasn't a pet either. He enjoys making me suffer for his amusement even. If I did leave this school with Fred, I would then figure out what happened to my mom. What happens next? Fred continues to drive me insane with his gruesome thoughts of harming others. I'm not too fond of those options either.

"I think I'm going to stay here for a bit," I said, finally deciding and finding the energy to sit at the edge of my bed.

"What the hell! To think we were actually on the same page! If this is about the sleep paralysis," Fred said, finally admitting that he has the power to control not only my thoughts but also my dreams.

"No, it's not that. I'm not planning to stay here for long before you start your tantrums again." I added before he began shouting. "But I'm not leaving right away either," I answered firmly, to which Fred was almost taken back but then turned to a cynical laugh.

"Do you think these stupid Harry Potter wannabes can help you to control me? Is that what you're hoping for!" Fred's voice grew louder. I should have known he would start another outburst, but I didn't expect him to start throwing the food all over the room. Surprisingly, none of it hit my face. Knowing that Fred wouldn't calm down anytime soon, I headed to the small bathroom to wash my face and brush my teeth. I was surprised that the school even provided a complimentary toothbrush and toothpaste.

"Hey MK, I got the uniform. What the fuck happened to your room!" I heard Jenna's voice gasp, shocked to find the room trashed with oatmeal and cereal boxes on the floor. He could have at least stolen the milk for the cereal.

"Jenna, honey, MK and I are trying to have a private conversation, so get the hell out." Fred was no longer hiding himself in the shadows. For the first time, he was visible to someone other than me. He was probably way too pissed off even to remember that he was trying to be invisible. I quickly spit the toothpaste in the sink and hurried out to ensure Fred wouldn't cause problems for Jenna.

"Knock it off, Fred. Go back to chilling in the curtains or something. We'll talk about this later." I sighed, not thinking he was going to listen. He stuck up the middle finger at me and retreated to the shadows in the corners of my room. Jack ass...
