I struggle with inserting my key card into the hotel door. After numerous tries and finally just dropping my luggage everywhere, I entered the medium-sized, completely paid for, hotel room. I huffed and dragged the suitcases inside, slamming the door behind me.
"Holy shit, that was heavy." I breathed a sigh of relief as I turned around towards the two blondes and the brunette that were in the room.
"I'm assuming your the fourth roommate?" I girl with short blonde hair, up in a mesy bun stood from the bed. She looked around my age, and was super tan. Even her frayed shorts and green tank top screamed California. Hipster.. I thought silently.
"Yeah, I'm Delilah." I stuck out my hand and the girl took it.
"Megan." She said with a sweet smile, exposing all her teeth.
"Hey, I'm Olivia." This came from the brunette, now standing beside Megan. She looked maybe a few years older than me, except she was fairly short. Her complexion was tan again, but hers looked more natural. Her brown eyes were perfectly round.
"And I'm Grace." The other blonde decided to join us. She was the only pale one of the bunch. Her face was dotted with freckles and her blue eyes looked extra bright with her light complexion.
After our introductions, Grace and Olivia claimed the bed closest to the window, leaving Megan and I with the one closer to the door. We all got our suitcases on our beds and unzipped them.
"I think we need some music." Olivia said, pulling out some speakers to hook her iPhone up to. Once she got that all set up and hit play on a song I hadn't heard before, we all got to unpacking.
Before I knew it, we were dancing around the room and big bathroom dancing and singing at the top of our lungs. Not the pretty singing that we all were capable of. The screeching kind that you do with your friends. Song after song played and our hotel room looked more and more trashed. Clothes were strewn all over the two queen sized beds, the couch, and hanging out of drawers. Makeup and hair products made a trail from our suitcases into the bathroom where shampoos, mirrors, and blushes were thrown everywhere.
It felt good. For once, I didn't have anything to worry about. My mom wasn't here. she was staying at another hotel. Paid for, by the one and only Sammy. This was also the first time I've ever actually had friends. Unless you count my moms co-workers as friends, which I don't.
After our little party, we ordered pizza and threw on shorts and t-shirts. We sat on the beds, the room still an insane mess and just talked and ate pizza. We learned more about each other and even at one point sang a bit for each other. I was insanely impressed by these girls. They all had mad skill, it was a but intimidating. At about 10:30, we called our little 'slumber party' quits and laid down in bed with the lights off. But I couldn't sleep. I was going over what I had learned about my new friends in my head.
Here's what I know:
Megan- She grew up in L.A. and has lived here all her life. When she was younger she road horses but stopped when a horse got angry and threw her off, breaking a leg. She has an older sister and an older brother, who was attractive (she showed us pictures.) Her dad is the CEO of some big company and her mother used to model. She defanielty gets her looks from her. Her birthday is June 3rd and she is the same age as me.
Grace- Grace is twelve. She's from Maine and her father is a fisherman (go figure). Her mom is a police officer and her parents are divorced. She spends equal time with both of them and is an only child. She has a goldfish named Spike, which she told us not to judge her for, she was five when she named him. When she was nine, she was signed with an agency for singing. They dropped her because her vocal chords swelled up, which 'scared them'. But she was 100% fine a month and a half later. Unfortanetly, they wouldn't take her back.
Olivia- Olivia's seventeen. Not too much older than me and Megan. She grew up with her ten siblings in Minnesota. She has two older brother, an older sister, three younger brothers, and four younger sisters. Her mom remarried after her father divorced her so six are her step-siblings. They have tons of pets, including a snake, turtle, dogs, cats, guinea pig, fish, and ferretts. Sounds like a crazy house if you ask me. She's auditioned for X Factor four times. The first time she was on Harry's team; Second she was on Simon's; Then Simon's again; and last season, Niall's.
This is what I told them about my life-
I've been singing since I could take and I live with my mom in New York City.
Of course they asked me for more information, but I still need to keep my secret. There was only so much I could say. Monday was the start of bootcamp and I've never been more nervous for anything before in my entire life. I shut my eyes and rolled over, hoping sleep would come easily to me. My last thought before drifting into unconciousness was, I'm here. In L.A. And I have shot at being the next winner of the X Factor U.S.
