>Louis POV<
The girls and I were having a fantastic time 'discussing the first results show tonight'. Because that's what we were doing...
Delilah Payne and most of the other girls were playing hangman and munching on snacks. We were blasting Justin Beiber because who doesn't love the Biebs and the other Delilah was talking in a corner with Megan. We also had silly string and balloons. I have no idea where the girls got them but why not?
Simon came into the room in the midst of all this craziness so quickly I hopped up and stood before the girls.
"And don't forget to smile when you walk out on stage! Smiling is key!" I yelled over the music, motioning for someone to turn it down. "Oh, Simon, didn't see you there!" I turned and he gave me a disapproving look.
"Good job keeping them in check." He noted. "Off to the makeup room!" He commanded the girls, "Show starts in 3 hours." Some of the girls groaned but they all headed off anyways. Simon extended an arm and stopped both Delilah's from leaving.
"You, your mother needs you." He pointed to Delilah Payne. She nodded and left with a wave.
"You, we need your mother." He said to Delilah Davis. You could practically see her heart drop.
"What do you mean?" She asked. I was going over the contracts today and your mom never signed yours. "Why is that, Louis?"
"Uhh, her mom was really busy but she'll be at the show tonight so she can sign it then."
"Have her come backstage before the show and sign it." Simon told me sternly and left. Delilah stared at me.
"I need to see your mom tonight." I told her. Slowly she nodded her head.
"Louis please.." Her voice cracked as she begged me.
"Delilah, there's nothing I can do about this. Bosses orders and you know that."
"Please." Tonight's my only chance of ever getting over this grief that I've held inside me for years now. Audrey was coming, if she didn't Delilah would have to leave.
"I promise I'll be the only one. I'll make sure your mom doesn't have to see anyone except for me." Her face lit up the slightest bit.
"Do you promise?" You could tell she was skeptical. They both had a lot on the line and they would have to put all their trust in me.
"I promise." I held up my pinkie. Delilah stared at it for a second and then looked back up at me. She searched my eyes for a lie. I guess she didn't find one because she smiled and latched her pinkie with mine.
For some reason, her skepticism reminded me of a little girl. Little meaning 6, not 15. I tried to picture her and her life when she was younger. She doesn't have a birth certificate. I found that out and that was about it. Delilah's never been to school, never joined a club, never played a sport. There was absolutely nothing on paper. What kind of a life is that?
Me and Eleanor have fought with her kind of a lot recently but there's this connection between us that makes me feel like I have a kind of claim on her. Like I could consider her he daughter that I'll never have. I'll never be able to understand why I felt proud of her last night watching her give that breathtaking performance or why when I found out Declam had been cheating on her, I had to stop myself from punching him in the face.
Maybe it's because she's one of my best mates daughters. She has a piece of Liam within her. Or mayeb its because she's doesn't have a father and I don't have a child. We're just a perfect match.
------------------------
My feet carried me in a line across the room. I kept pacing, retracing the same steps and I had been for 20 minutes. It's like I could hear Delilah and her mom walking down the many hallways to this very secluded office room. It was compeltely empty, just a tiny space with no furniture at all. The light didn't work either so I cracked the blinds open a bit to let in the fading sunlight.
