A Little Lost

This morning I woke up to Jonah sniffling on the side of the bed. I begin getting up and moving over to him. I sit up behind him and start rubbing his shoulders and he jumps and becomes tense.

"What's wrong baby?" I question and begins to cry harder.

He sobs into his hands. I sit next to him on the side of the bed and pull him in my lap. He melts into me and lays his head on my shoulder. After some rocking and soothing Jonah eventually calmed down to sniffles.

"What happened?" I ask and rub circles into his back. He continues to lay his head on my shoulder.

"I just miss Colin." Jonah says slowly beginning to cry again. Colin has been gone for almost a month because his most recent work trip is overseas so I can see why Jonah misses him. Colin tries to call as often as possible but his last call was almost a week ago.

"I wan see Cowin." Jonah cries into my shoulder. I get up to go to my dresser and look for one of his pacifiers realizing that he's slipped.

"I know you wanna see Colin baby, but he's far away and working." I explain and Jonah begins to whine. Jonah starts kicking his feet due to being frusterated. I know he is upset but now he was acting out.

"Jonah I know you're upset but that is no excuse to kick. You know it's not nice to kick people." I say to him in his ear and he stops crying but continues to cry. I think I know what will cheer him up so I set him down but that was a big mistake. On top of his crying he began screaming.

"Stay there baby I'll be right back." I tried to reassure him but I don't think he could he me. I quickly run into the bathroom to run him a warm bubble bath. Those usually calm him down and make him feel better. Once I finish I go back to get him and he's stopped screaming but is still crying.

He's reaching out for me so I pick him up and bring him to the bathroom. He sees the bath and smiles a little. I get him undressed and put him in with his toys. He's loves to splash and play in the water. I get my phone to do a quick follow up with someone until Jonah speaks up.

"Daddy get in?" He innocently asks. I look at his cute little pout and can't say no.

"Yes baby I'll get in." I strip down and get behind Jonah on the tub. He laughs and splashes even more adn then tuns around to give me one of his toy ducks.

"Daddy you get dis duck and you be huwt an I hep you. Kay?" He seriously asks explaining the rules of the game. I chuckle a bit but nod my head nonetheless. We play for a bit before the water cools down some then we get out. I get our towels and wrap Jonah first before wrapping my waist.

We finish up our morning routine and get dressed. Jonah seems to feel a lot better and he is definitely more talkative. He keeps telling me all of the games he wants to play today and the shows and movies he wants to watch we me today.

He doesn't know but I'm only gonna be with him half of the day and Adrian the other half. Adrian and I have to got meet up with some of our high end business partners and while I can't do all Adrian and I split. Plus he wanted to spend time with Jonah today so it worked out.

So I made my appointmets in the afternoon and Adrian did his in the morning. He is definitely more of a morning person than I am. I know Jonah must be getting hungry so I take him downstairs to fix him some breakfast.

"Uncle DD is going watch you while daddy goes to work okay?" I tell Jonah and refer to Adrian as Uncle DD because that is the name that him and Jonah came up with to call him while Jonah is little since it is easier to say than Adrian. Jonah shakes his head and pouts.

"No I no wan leave you."

"But why I thought you like staying with uncle DD."

"No I no like it I wan come wit chu." Jonah protests and pouts. I sigh knowing he is just being stubborn and clingy. I drop the conversation for now as to not upset him further. We eat breakfast and cuddle on the couch until Adrian gets back and its time for me to leave.

I hate leaving him whenever he's acting and feeling like this but this is not something I can just drop. After a few hours of games and shows Adrian gets home. He goes over to Jonah who is sitting on the floor by my legs playing with some of his toys.

"Hey buddy I haven't seen you all day. Did you miss me?" Adrian asks with a huge grin on his face. Jonah pouts at him and climbs in my lap and hides his face into my neck.

"Jonah don't be a brat. Sorry he's being clingy he had a bit of a rough start this morning." Adrian nods his head in understanding but he still looks slightly betrayed.

"Jonah I have to go work so you have to stay with Uncle DD." I say and stand up and hand Jonah to Adrian. Jonah begins to cry and reach for me but I go upstairs to get ready in hopes that he will calm down.

I get ready and go back downstairs to where he is still crying but now Adrian is sitting in the spot I was in on the couch. He sees and reaches for me and I go to give him a kiss and say goodbye but not pick him up which makes him cry even harder.

"Don't worry he'll be fine. He might take a nap. See you." I say and wave as I walk out the door. Throughout the evening when I got a chance to check my phone Adrian would send me updates on how he's doing. After I left he cried for almost 20 minutes then he slept for about an hour and now he's as happy as ever.

Once I got home he was still awake and he ran and jumped into my arms as soon as I got in the door. When I picked him up I could tell he was getting tired. I thanked Adrian and took him upstairs to get ready for bed. I told I had a surprise for him once he got in bed. He got in his pjs and quickly got in bed.

He laid down and I made a phone call and put it on speaker.

"Hello?" The voice on the other end says

"Bubba?!" Jonah loudly gasps and quickly takes the phone I was extending out to him. Colin and I both slightly chuckle at his enthusiasm and Colin replies they talk for about 10 minutes until Jonah falls asleep listening to the soothing sound of Colin's voice.
