When Colin texted me worry set in. I was just hoping that his injury was nothing serious, so I quickly go downstairs and wait outside until they get here.

I see them pull up shortly and my heart drops when I see my baby sobbing in the back seat. As he parks I walk up and pull Jonah out.

"Oh baby boy come here." He instantly tucks the unhurt side of his head in my neck. I bounce him and rub his back and he relaxes a little while still crying.

Colin gets out and grabs his bag and hands it to me.

"So what happened?"

"He had just had some ice cream and then he went back to play and when he was running he wasn't paying attention and ran right into a structural pole."

I grimace just imagining how much pain he must be in.

"Ok thanks I'm gonna get him some ice."

"Alright bye buddy I hope you feel better. Bye." Jonah doesn't look up but gives a weak wave in Colin's direction.

I take him inside and we head to the kitchen. I try to sit him on the counter but he refused to let go.

"Baby sit down please so I can see your head and get you some ice." He shakes his head.

"Adrian can you come down here for a second!"

Adrian comes into the kitchen looking slightly confused but happy to see Jonah.

"Hey! How's my little bunny?" He says in a baby voice coming to tickle Jonah's side.

He grumpily whines and tries to move away without pulling his head out of my neck.

"He hit his head at the park with Colin and I need to see it and get some ice for it. So will you hold him so I can look." Adrian nods and reaches out for Jonah.

"Come here bunny." Jonah doesn't move. So I pull him off and hand him to Adrian and he begins to cry so I try to move as quickly as possible.

He sits at one of the counter chairs and faces Jonah away from him so I can look at his bump.

It's kind of hard to see it clearly because he's crying and flailing around but there is a very apparent red bump on his forehead sticking out and I can tell it's painful.

I wrap a towel around an ice pack from the freezer and put some medicine in a warm bottle of milk.

Once I finish running around I take back my crying baby and take him up to our room.

"Shhh baby it's okay I got you." I say as I give him his milk and put the ice on his head but he tries to pull away from the coldness of the ice.

"It's gonna make your head feel better okay? Just let me keep it on for a little okay."

He whines in protest but eventually gives in. Soon he falls asleep and I just stare at him wishing I could have been with him sooner.

"So he's going to Colin's again?" I turn my head to see Adrian standing in the doorway.

"Yeah they made up a little bit ago and he wanted to go there today. Why?"

"I don't know. Don't you think it's too soon? I mean did he not just backstab him a few weeks ago?"

"Look I don't fully trust him yet either but he apologized to me and seemed somewhat genuine. Also Jonah knows that he can come home anytime he doesn't want to be there anymore. And if it says anything Colin called me and brought him home immediately."

"So just coincidentally he got hurt the first day he went back to his backstabbing friend." I sigh.

"I didn't ask a lot of questions since I was more focused on my hurt baby. I can ask Jonah in the morning I'm sure he won't want to go back too soon."

Adrian just nods his head.

"Okay. I was just concerned."

"Look I'll keep an eye on him but as of right now he's seem genuine. If I am concerned about Jonah's wellbeing I'll stop the visits and try to figure it out. Jonah was the one who seemed ready and he's know Colin longer than I have. I have it under control. Okay."

"Okay sorry I just care for him you know? Goodnight." Adrian says sounding sincere.

"I know. Night." I say and Adrian leaves closing the door behind him.
