lina piastri is usually a quiet girl. she vowed to stay away from the publicity, the fame. being famous was her brother's thing for sure, and she had always known that. that's what she had gotten used to, that's what lina had been told it would always be. she wasn't even SEEN with her brother, so she wasn't even sure whether the public knew of her existance, but she just dealt with it. it was what it was!

of course , lina didn't expect it when her brother came to her with a weird idea. she could've almost laughed in his face because of how stupid it was.

a late april fools joke? or a (stupidly unfunny) prank? whatever it was, she really didn't like the sound of it. over the years, lina had become really close with her brother's friends, because she was homeschooled so she didn't have many friends of her own.

it was a sad little life, some would say, but she was happy when she was given the chance to see them, because they were her friends too! it was mostly some of his friends from the grid, anyway.

at least they knew about her, so she wasn't in the dark. most of them couldn't make time for her though, so they did leave her in the dark. but what expectations could she have? not many rich f1 drivers would want to spend their time stopping oscar piastri's lonely little sister from being friendless.

one of them was different though, he always had been. the blonde american was kind, and funny. even though he had a weird accent..!

he always had been different; since the day that they had met. he always listened, waited for her, and just overall did more to help her than any of her brother's other friends had. she wished she could help him too. she knew he was lonely, maybe not like her, but he was definitely alone. lina wished she could understand him better - but she never did, and they never talked about it. he was definitely one to keep things to himself.

she knew being the only american in formula 1 was not a great experience for him, but all she could do was watch from her screen, at home. he wouldn't talk to her about it, and she always felt belittled because it was like he was protecting her, although she was barely younger than him, or her brother.

anyway, lina snapped back to the present. writing in her diary had made her fall into a spiral in her thoughts, wondering what to do about her brother's proposal earlier that day. she figured she had practically already denied it though, scrunching up her face angrily and slamming the door.

what if she didn't want to deny it though? there were so many things to consider. she wouldn't be in the dark anymore, but she would finally be exposed to the outside world. then it would feel like she was being watched. always.

she sat quietly in her bedroom, pressed up against the back of the door. she tried to wash away her thoughts with the music blasting through her airpods, but she knew it had to be considered
