"over the next week, we need to make so much content" logan said quietly, over the table in the quiet cafe they had found to have their breakfast in. lina could hardly call it a date. just "we should spend some time together" would have been nice, but she knows what this is.
"yeah, content." lina agreed finally.
there was no race the following weekend, so they had a full week where they needed to project their relationship out onto social media to keep people talking about them. it felt weird, living this fake double life, for the enjoyment of others, but she wasn't ready to stop yet. she would drag it out as long as she possibly could, make excuses to continue it. despite all this, lina had to come to terms with the fact that this was soon going to end. that was the unbearable truth.
by the end of the week, lina's instagram account would practically look like a logan sargeant fanpage. they had done so much, and it was so much fun. but the only purpose of it all was to take the photos.

she would have loved to actually go to the cinema with logan. watching movies was her passion, and he knew that. but she couldn't let herself believe that this was a real thing, and it was hard to believe it was real when he wouldn't commit to it at all.
they went to the cinema, but they didn't watch anything at all. they left, immediately. but it's for the content, right?

there were way more exactly the same. and they blew up, of course, they were doing all the right things to make people obsess over their relationship. going on cute dates, taking photos of themselves, posting eachother. classic couple things really.
it seriously was not that hard to convince the internet that 2 people are dating. lina wished it was harder, and then maybe logan would have been more involved in pretending. she would like to pretend, just for a little bit.
but slowly, it felt like he wanted to withdraw himself from the whole thing. was he having regrets? or did he know how lina really felt? after 2 long weeks of endless time spent together, you would think that they had become much closer, when in reality, logan wasn't allowing that to happen at all. he was taking the initial rules too seriously.
he wasn't allowing himself to fall in love, not ever. it would ruin the whole purpose of this - and it was not like SHE would fall in love either, so then he would just embarrass himself. he refused to let it happen, and the only way for him to do that, was for him to put minimal effort into the whole thing.
it was surprising that it still worked, despite the effort being heavily one sided. lina could definitely tell he was giving up on it too soon as well. but she thought it was something that she had done.
she was heavily upset. he was slowly spending less time with her, and was very much more fixated on how fake the relationship was, and making it look believable, rather than her feelings and spending time with her in private. it was a little insane how much he had switched up in such a short period of time, but what had changed?
she asked the only person who she truly wanted to help.
lina
does logan not want to do the
fake dating thing anymore???oscar
i don't know
he's being weird about it
i think he does
but i don't know why
it was his ideathat hurt. for it to be his idea in the first place, and then for him to be the one who decides to start to cut it off within the first few weeks of it becoming public, it meant it was definitely something she had done.
so lina did the only thing that she could think of to save herself from becoming overly upset about the situation. why let him cut HER off and make her more upset? no, she had to do it first.
