A/N: Lexa is my baby and I hope you're all really nice to her haha! Keep in mind that she's only 14 in the first movie, so she's got a lot of growing up to do between now and the Clone Wars! Anyways, I'd love to get some feedback from all of you and hear your thoughts! Thank you!

Part 1: Illuminance

"There is no emotion, there is peace. There is no ignorance, there is knowledge."

Chapter 1

Lexicla Verace clicked her heels together, staring at the boots on her feet. Her gaze ripped away from the monotonous sound, shoulders anxious as she eyed the stars out the window of the ship.

So many stars—

And to think, she had only traveled in space for the Gathering and when she had been brought to the Jedi Temple. She had only been a child, barely three. But the memory was vivid in her mind.

A searing heat and scar that lingered on her shoulder—her own people making a sacrifice in hopes that there would be more children.

Her Grand-Master's face looming overhead, elegant lightsaber in hand. And then her master, much younger and with a worried look on her face. She remembered the way that they had protected her, seen her force abilities, and they had given her a home.

"Padawan," Came the stern and amused tone of her master. "You're doing it again."

Lexa let out a breath, shoulders visibly deflating. "Sorry, Master Xerxi. I'm just—"

"Excited?" Master Xaedra Xerxi offered, raising her eyebrows. Master Xerxi was a woman of beauty, with dark hair, a high brow, and brilliantly warm eyes.

"Well, yes. It is my first sanctioned mission."

"Oh we know." Her gaze flickered over to Obi-Wan Kenobi, the other Padawan assigned to the mission. His master, Qui-Gon Jinn had been silent, as per his usual. "You're practically radiating excitement in the Force."

Lexa tried her best not to be annoyed with him. "Well not all of us can sneak away on unsanctioned missions to prove ourselves—"

"And that is enough, Padawan Verace," Master Xerxi cut in. "Besides, Obi-Wan is just grumpy because he wants to undertake the trials."

A smile spread across Lexa's face and Obi-Wan scowled at the two of them. At that, Qui-Gon finally spoke. "Obi-Wan is right though. Your mind is quite loud at the moment." The words were not spoken in a hurtful way, but merely said to make her aware of the situation.

"Sorry, I'll do better." Lexa promised, lowering her head.

The first line of the Jedi Code echoed through her mind: There is no emotion, there is peace.

Although, in retrospect for someone as young as the 14 year old Padawan, she wasn't sure how she could just get rid of her emotions. Excitement, fear, joy—they were all human and mortal parts of living.

To be a Jedi meant that you didn't dwell on them. Didn't let them change who you were.

At least, that's what Lexa interpreted. She just wasn't sure other Jedi Masters like Yoda or Mace Windu would particularly like the Force interpreted by Lexa.

Lexa's peaceful meditation was soon interrupted by her Master's hand on her shoulder. Blinking open her eyes, Lexa looked to her Master. "Look ahead, Padawan."

Her gaze turned to the front of the ship and unable to help herself, she spilled from her seat, eyes wide at the planet of Naboo. Master Xerxi smiled in faint amusement at both Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan.
