A/N: I know I said January...but I wanted to give you a little intro treat before then haha :) And warn you about so much angst during the clone wars lol. But as always, I hope you enjoy and let me know what you think!

3 Years Later

Lexicla Verace—one of the youngest Jedi Knights ever knighted in the Order—tucked and rolled, dodging the purple saber of Mace Windu. Here in the training grounds, she seemed to excel.

Not really showing off, but displaying her talents to the Younglings that were waiting to become Padawans, it seemed a prudent field of study. Mace Windu was just this week's latest victim from the Council, who took turns with the Younglings and saber techniques.

Lexa lunged to the side, rolling into a standing position and blocking the hit from the Master duelist. He jabbed her in the face with his elbow and she fell backwards, catching herself with one hand.

Her leg slammed forward into his head and he stumbled backwards. She twisted back into a crouched position, saber stopping at his legs as his own saber stopped at her neck.

Almost immediately, the younglings burst into applause, excitement shooting through them. Mace Windu lowered his head in respect to her and she did the same. The two Jedi deactivated their sabers.

It was strange—she had been certain that as a Youngling and a beginner Padawan that he deeply disliked her. She found that she had been wrong about the man. He was just hard to read.

In fact, since Lexa had kept quiet to her visions and didn't place much stock in them anymore, his respect for the young Jedi Knight had grown. And although they were by no means friends, there was a sort of mutual warmth and respect that wasn't there before.

The one thing that he continued to disapprove of was her friendship with the young Anakin Skywalker. He was dangerous and she was proving to be one of the most promising Jedi within the Order.

"Who can tell me Lexicla's advantages and disadvantages?" Mace Windu spoke up, voice seeming to echo through the courtyard.

One of the younger girls, a Mirialian, raised her hand. Mace gave a nod and the girl brightened. "She's small, so she has to use speed to her advantage. Her two sabers help to even the playing field since you're physically stronger."

Mace exchanged a proud look with Lexa. The Youngling hopefuls seemed to be brighter with each generation. Although working with the children was more of Master Yoda's favorite pastime, any Jedi who worked with the younglings usually found joy in doing so.

"Excellent point, Barriss." Lexa beamed.

Noting the fact that a Temple Guard was lingering and slowly inching forward, Mace held up a hand. "I think that will be all for today. You are dismissed for lunch."

Before the younglings could even move—Lexa was suddenly struck by an intensely cold feeling. She stopped short, eyes nearly glazing over.

Smoke billowing up from a Nabooian shuttle.

Poison—a deadly assassin—

And Padme Amidala at the center of it all.

The last thing that Lexa expected was to be whisked away with the entirety of the Jedi Council to the Senate Building—all for Senator Amidala and the Separatist threat. She wondered, briefly, as she sat in the shuttle, if the Council knew what she had done.

The reason why she was thriving so much is because she was ignoring a good majority of her visions. But not all of them. No—when the premonition that Senator Amidala was in danger had come through, Lexa had wasted no time in contacting her dear friend.
