LAVENDER HAZE: termed in the 1950s, meaning to be deeply in love. Like a honeymoon phase or dream like state in a relationship.
"Stop being a pussy and get out of the car" Luke demanded once again. We drove together to practice and now we were home but I was literally frozen in my seat on the passenger side. "I'm getting antsy" he whined.
"I know ok I'm stressed right now though" I was legit staring at the front door. Quinn's car was already out front so that they meant they were inside. He was inside.
"You have to see him at some point" Luke pointed out. He was right. I took a deep breath and finally got out of the car, Luke slammed my door shut and grabbed my hand to ensure I didn't try waiting any longer before dragging me inside the house.
My heart was pounding in my chest and all I could think about was the last time I saw him. That wasn't going to help my heart out right now.
I could hear him and the guys laughing from the living room. It's been so fucking long. "Hello brothers" Luke gave both of his brothers hugs. I kept my head down, I was stressing.
"Lily!" Quinn scooped me up and hug me tight. "How's living with these guys? Be honest" he asked as my roommates all boo'd him and told them they were, I quote, 'the best roommates ever'.
"Between me and you, love them but they're like children" I rolled my eyes jokingly and Quinn laughed.
"Yep" he agreed. Next was Jack. Fuck. The second Quinn moved and my eyes my Jacks I felt fireworks going off in my stomach. A smile broke out onto his lips and he carefully wrapped his arms around me, lifting me up off the ground
"How is my favorite girl doing?" He asked quietly. All I could do was shrug with a smile on my face. I couldn't stop smiling. I'm just so happy he's happy to see me, I think a lot of my nerves was thinking he would not want to see me or feel weird around me. That was not the case.
"Scared I'm going to get alcohol poisoning" I giggled and they all laughed. Lowkey was so serious though.
"You'll be fine" Ethan yelled. "When did you become a pussy?"
"I hate you" I scowled at him as he and the others laughed, including Jack. "I have to go get ready and nap"
"Nap? Bitch we leave here in 2 hours" Luke scoffed.
"No lowkey let's all take an hour nap" Mark added.
"Agreed" I nodded eagerly. A nap was gonna be amazing. I practically ran into my room, closing the door and sliding down it until my elbows tested on my knees and my head rested in my hands. Holy fuck. This is was so overwhelming yet I think I handled it very well. I was as cool as a cucumber.
A soft knock on the door vibrated my back and I quickly stood up and opened it, only half surprised to see Jack. He quickly slid into the room and closed the door behind him.
We kind of just stood there staring at each other for what felt like eternity, both of us trying to avoid the obvious sexual tension in the room. We hadn't seen each other in weeks, almost a month, there was no reason to be ripping each others clothes off...yet.
I cleared my throat and waved my arms behind me, gesturing to my room. "So here's my room" I broke the silence. A smile broke out onto his face as a light laugh escaped his lips.
"I see that, it's very You Lily" he complimented. He took a stroll around, taking in all the pictures I had hung up. Some were framed pictures of all of us when we were kids, some were pictures of just me and Luke, there was a few of just me and Jack too. "I like this one" he pointed to a picture of me and him two years ago on Fourth of July. He was hugging me from behind while I had the biggest smile on my face and fireworks shot up in the background. My mother forced us to take that one.
"That's a good one" I agreed. "I'm trying to start a Polaroid wall too, I have a bunch of them but I haven't gotten the time to put them up." I grabbed out the twenty or so Polaroids I had clipped together and handed them to Jack. Some were pretty funny. One was Luke drawing a penis on Mark's face with whipped cream while he lay passed out on the couch from drinking. There was also one of me laying in a bush because Ethan pushed me over into one on a drunk walk home.
"Some of these are ducking hysterical and others are cute. I like the one of you and Luke on the roof of some random house but you guys look like your having so much fun" he put them down on my vanity and leaned against it. "You've settled in?" He asked.
"I think so" I nodded. "Luke drives me to the academic buildings when it rains and one of the guys always walks with me to and from classes. I think being with familiar faces helped me out a lot" I smiled, happy that I made this decision to live here this year. Probably one of the best choices I've ever made.
"Good Lily, You look like your doing well" Jack smiled. "I've checked on you through Luke a few times. I was happy to hear you were doing good."
"Are you ready for the season? First game is next week!" I was excited for him. Last season was a career year and I know that he's only up from there. My favorite thing was watching my boys play the sport they're passionate about.
"I feel ready. Always get nervous before the season opens but I'm ready. Speaking of, coach was telling me there's a chance that Luke is gonna get called up this year. Don't tell him because I don't want to get his hopes up if it doesn't happen but I really hope it does." I could tell how excited he was to get out there on the ice with his brother on his team. I'll be in attendance to both Canucks vs Devils games if they play all together.
"I'm gonna be abandoned" I joked. "But seriously that would be so cool, I know Luke would be so excited. He's ready to go pro now. I think everyone knows that" I always spoke highly of my boys.
"Well we got less than two hours now to get some rest. I just wanted to catch up before later-"
"You can stay in here If you want. I do have a Queen" I couldn't even believe my own voice but I wasn't gonna be mad at myself either. Especially when a small smirk graced his lips and he took off his shoes and hat and jumped on the bed. "But I do need a nap if I'm supposed to kill my liver later" I added.
"Got it. And so do I, Quinn made me drive half the way" He scoffed, getting under the cover and holding them open for me. I nervously chewed on my lip as I slid in beside him. He pulled the blanket over me and grabbed my hips, turning them so my back was to his front before pulling me flush against him. He kept his arm wrapped around me and leaned over to kiss my cheek. "Night Lily"
I was basically seeing stars.
