"Hello Damon." Stefan wearily greeted his brother.
"What's this? Conspiring against me when I'm here to walk the straight and narrow? And who's this little girl?" Damon questioned.
"I'm Alice McCoullogh. Great granddaughter of Amelia Bennet, descendent of Emily Bennet."
"That explains nothing," Damon quipped. "Brother, I come all this way to make amends, and you're here playing with a baby witch?"
"I'm not a baby. I have been granted a second life after dying in a tragic accident. Being a Bennet witch, nature allowed me to retain all my memories from before my reincarnation, including my knowledge of your family. That's how I know that you won't kill me. You made a deal with my ancestor. If you break your promise, we will break ours and you'll never see Katherine again."
"Don't worry about that. I came here to bond with my brother. Now what's this about reincarnation?"
"I can't explain it, so don't ask again. But I'm here to ensure that you and your brother will forgive each other and leave town until the comet is closer to approaching."
"How can I believe anything you say?"
"I will prove my knowledge. If I do that, will you listen to everything I have to say?"
"Alright, Little Duckling, fire away."
"Your name is Damon Joseph Salvatore, born to Giseuppe and Lillian Salvatore on June 18th, 1939. Your father was an abusive man whom you feared. You believe Lillian didn't protect you when she should have, but she tried. When you were 12, your mother had enough of your father's abusive ways and decided to steal his money in an attempt to escape with you and Stefan. But when he noticed the theft, he assumed one of you boys took it. In fear of what he'd do to Stefan, you took the blame and suffered a burning consequence." She reached out to the circular scar on his arm.
"Your father discovered the truth when he found the train tickets she'd bought with the money and he threatened to take you boys away to where she could never see you again. She stayed with your father because it was her only choice to have you in her life. She didn't dare try running again and 5 years later, she died of consumption. You promised Stefan you would perform her eulogy, but you didn't attend her funeral because you were afraid you would cry in front of your father." Alice noted the way Damon bit his lip at her words.
"When you were human, Stefan was your best friend and the only person you could trust. You were heart-broken when you learned Stefan had also been Katherine's lover. You were so deeply in love with her that you would do anything for her, and you willingly drank her blood. When you thought she was dead and your father had killed you, you wished to die along with her. But your brother forced you to feed and you promised him a life of misery. Then you learned that Emily was able to protect those inside the church. Even knowing Katherine was alive, you wanted to punish your brother for loving her. After over a century of meddling with your brother's life, you're here claiming you want a fresh start. Now have I said anything you know to be untrue?"
"No. But how can I know that Stefan didn't tell you these things and you made up the rest?" Damon sneered."
"When Stefan came to you in 1942, you fully intended to leave with him and follow him to the war. The only reason you didn't is that Lexi convinced you to stay away from him. And because you do truly love your brother, you listened to her. You don't want to admit it, but you do carry guilt over Stefan becoming a ripper. If you hadn't been convinced to enjoy being a vampire, you wouldn't have tempted Stefan and he wouldn't have discovered such a dark part of himself. Don't deny it, I know this is true just like I know that Charlotte is still walking the streets of New Orleans, counting bricks because as long as her humanity is present, she is still sired to you.
I know about Enzo and what the Augustine's did to you both. When you left him, you kept your promise of revenge to him. I know the only reason you refuse to turn your humanity back on is that you don't want to face what you had to do to survive. It's okay to feel, Damon. And it's not too late. You don't have to be sad about leaving him to die, because he didn't."
"How could you possibly know that?!" Damon roared.
"I just do. Enzo survived the fire and he is still right where you left him. I will help you release him, but only if you become the man he knew. You may be stronger than you were, but the Augustine's have progressed just like the rest of humanity. You need me to help you."
"And why would you do that?" Damon asked, not sure if he should believe her.
"I'll need a favor in return."
"And what favor would that be?"
"Believe me and listen to my advice. I don't want the founders council to be revived. In order to unveil the tomb after the comet passes, I can't have outsiders meddling. Also, there is someone special in this town that I need to protect. A thousand years ago my ancestor caused a curse on her bloodline, and I don't want her to suffer anymore from that curse than she has to. So once I help you retrieve Enzo, I need the three of you to leave town. And you cannot return until the year of the comet. Do we have a deal?"
"Yes. But listen here brat, if I find out that you're lying about Enzo, just know that protecting your lineage doesn't mean I can't make you wish you were dead."
"Okay." Alice replied simply, knowing Enzo was alive and that an aneurysm spell would easily incapacitate a non-original vampire.
"Now, Stefan, I know you must have a lot of questions. But I have preparing to do. So for now, tell Zach that you need to deal with Damon and go compel yourself a motel room. Having Damon be the one to tell you about Enzo would be best." Stefan nodded in agreement to her instructions."Alright then, I have work to do. Meet back here tomorrow afternoon to discuss my plans." She directed to them both before turning to leave.
"Goodbye little duckling," Damon replied with an ominous voice.
