Life was very mellow following the dessication of Mikael. Bonnie was enjoying a happy childhood with two loving parents. Zac and Gail got married and had a second child, a son named Sean. Peter Maxwell got a job as a mechanic, at the behest of his daughter. Alice earned her High School Diploma at the shocking age of 12. Similarly, the 8 year old Tori Donovan tested into 6th grade and the 5 year old Gia Salvatore was placed in 3rd grade.
The only thing that rocked the town for the following 4 years was the news that two seniors had killed and injured 39 people at their High School in Colorado. Alice was saddened at the reminder that there are more evils in the world than the supernatural. Having spent 13 years in her new world, she had forgotten about Columbine, the first of many massacres that would accompany the coming century. She was heartbroken to know that in just 2 and half years, thousands of people would fall along with the twin towers. She desired to prevent it, but two things stopped her. 1) Saving that amount of people could have catastrophic effects on the timeline and 2)She'd still only be a 15 year old girl.
So, instead of focusing on wanting to prevent things beyond her reach, she focused on her education. At the age of 12, Alice had been accepted into Whittemore College on a full scholarship. By 16, she obtained her Bachelor's Degree in Teaching. With two years left until she could get her teacher's license, she got a job as a teacher's assistant at the local elementary school.
At the age of 17, six months after becoming a teacher's assistant, her Grandmother passed away at the age of 56 from lymphoma. Alice appreciated all the years she had with her, but understood that is was a sign she needed to be her own person. Somebody other than a Bennet witch. Instead of Sheila or Abby remanding custody of her, Alice got emancipated. With the money she had from her grandmother's life insurance and a steady income, she rented a quaint two bedroom house two streets down from her childhood home.
At the age of 18, she passed the licensing exam and was hired on as an official 3rd grade teacher. That fall, her biological father was elected as Mayor and Elizabeth Forbes was elected as Sheriff. Alice considered confronting her dad now that she was an adult, but didn't want to interfere with her memory of the man who raised her in her previous life. She kept a close eye on the 11 year-old Tyler during school-wide events. Even though they weren't being raised together, that didn't take away the protective sibling urge she felt over him.
Over Christmas break that year, she and her sisters began a yearly tradition. During the winter festival, 13 year old Tori and 10 year old Gia waited for her under the high school bleachers while their parents were focused on their respective younger brothers. At first she didn't recognize them, and thought she was just following a random pair of elementary students that were wandering too far away. She had planned on walking them back to their parents, but upon looking in their eyes, she knew exactly who they were. The sisters were overcome with emotion at finally being old enough to contact each other. They hugged deeply and shared every part of their lives with each other.
When Alice revealed that Mayor Lockwood was her father, Tori slapped her hand against Alice's shoulder and gasped, "You're a werewolf too?!"
Just as Tori's 13 year old hand made contact with her, Alice was thrown into a depressing vision. A barely dressed 13 year old girl was curled in a ball crying and shivering. The vision expanded to show that she was all alone in an abandoned cabin in the middle of the woods.
Alice closed her eyes tight in sudden sorrow for the girl. The view then shifted back to the girl and the crescent moon birth mark on her shoulder.
Alice gasped in realization as her eyes flew open, "Hayley!"
"What? What about Hayley?" Tori asked.
"Sh- she's shifted. And she's all alone," water filled Alice's eyes as she spoke. "I can't believe I forgot about her." She felt the tears drop down her cheeks.
"Hey! Hey, Al! Calm down. Can you see where she is?" Gia reached up and shook her shoulders to get her attention.
"Um," she closed her eyes to try to focus. "I can see a cabin. It's old and abandoned. It's at least a mile into the woods."
"Can you see what woods?" Tori asked.
"Yes! I see it! It says Chance Harbour! Chance Harbour, North Carolina!" Alice cheered in victory.
"That's only a hundred miles from here!" Gia declared.
"You could drive there in less than two hours!" Tori exclaimed.
"But what will I say?" Alice asked as doubt threatened her relief.
"The truth! You're a witch with a werewolf lineage. You sensed that she was in trouble and want to help her!" Tori recommended.
"Do you think she'll listen?" Alice debated.
"She's a 13 year old girl who just got kicked out of the only home she's ever known because of something she can't control. If you offer her answers to what's happening to her, there's no way she'll refuse your help." Tori reassured her.
"Okay. Mission Rescue Hayley Marshall, here I come." Alice agreed.
