Edith's POV (point of view)
Another day had passed, and today midday was the wedding of Princess Maria of Edgard to the so-called handsome Prince Claude of Isembart.
Both kingdoms were very close in trade, both were successful and both fought in wars as one. The two were partners together as old as time. So the two got together and fixed up a wedding with their children to make the bond stronger.
I am going to attend the wedding, but not as an invited guest.
My uncle and I are goldsmiths. We make any kind of gold jewelry and we have been honored to make the wedding rings for the ceremony. The people of Edgard say that we are the most honest and do an excellent work, for a reasonable price.
"Edith! " my uncle yelled from inside the shed where our cart and horse is.
"Yes uncle! I'm coming." I said in return.
I stopped cleaning the yard and went straight to him. My uncle is a very hardworking man. Never have I met anyone as outstanding as him.
"Yes uncle you called me?" I said while leaning on the ledge of the doorframe watching him drink his usual mug of alcohol.
"Yes, I wanted to ask of a favor from you." He got up from the haystack and walked towards me.
"Would you be a dear boy and deliver the wedding rings to the palace? I'm not feelin-"
"What! You want me to deliver the rings to the castle! Alone!"
"Listen I'm not forcing you. But I'm not feeling well and my legs are rather sore today." He stopped and look at me. "Oh well! I guess this poor old man has to walk all the way to the palace. Oh pity me! Even my own nephew won't go."He dramatically exclaimed with a sigh at the end.
If it's one thing my uncle Gallien is good at. It's getting people to do what he wants.
"Firstly, fine I'll do it, but only because you gave me that amazing performance." I said rather sarcastically. "And how do I get inside the palace, every time I go there those ladies look at me weird with their eyes fluttering."
He let out a hearty laugh and looked at me.
"Oh my boy! You were just like your father when he was younger! Always getting the ladies attention. You handsome devil!"
I smiled at the thought of me resembling my father. I've never seen him in my life and people never said anything about him. My uncle had always taken care of me as long as I could've remembered. Though I didn't really have both of my parents, Uncle Gallien was there for me, teaching me and guiding me. I was always contented with him alone, but sometimes I wonder who were my parents, how were they, what did they do.
"Alright then, that's enough chatter for now. You better leave for the castle now or you'll be late for the wedding." said my uncle.
He handed me the rings in a small ring holder and chased me away.
I gave him an affirmative nod and left on my horse.
