How long was it? Byleth had no idea. What seem liked forever in the to him was only a few years in the outside world. He heard a all too familiar voice, the once that disappeared from him that day.
'So how long do you intend to sleep?"
"Sothis.. Is that you.?" Byleth weakly voiced out, using his strength to sit himself up. One hand on his head to carry his pain that had spread out into his body.
"Of course it is! Who else would be speaking you in this other worldly plane? Agh, nevermind that. You need to wake up! How long do you intend to stay asleep for!?" Sothis said, her little foot stomping on the floor. "Can you imagine what the world has gone through with your absence?"
"How ..Sothis.. Thank you." Byleth said before briefly standing up, only to immediately stagger a bit with the rushing pain and black swirls surrounding his vision. Not long where his vision soon change from that mental chamber where he and Sothis spoke to a ruined village and a man who was hovering over him.
"Oh thank the gods you woke up. I thought you must of died to the bandits at the monastery." The man said, offering hand to Byleth in which he hesitantly took it and was pulled up.
"Bandits? What has happened to the monastery?" Byleth asked. The man had explained that after Adrestian Empire declared war to the church, the Bandits had taken refuge at the church and looting what they can. Byleth also learned that five years had passed since then. His thoughts suddenly change at the memory of his students.
"Are you crazy?! You'll be walking into a death sentence if you go back there!" The man said, trying to convince Byleth to walk the other direction. Byleth, briefly paused at the direction of the church and turned to look at the man.
"My students need me. I need to find them."
Without another word, Byleth rushed to the church. He slowly walked through the masses of debris and fallen bodies of soliders that loitered around the once sacred grounds. He climbed stairs that lead to the beloved Goddess Tower. A memory filled his mind of a certain someone at a dance he had once shared with one of his beloved students.

'Say Professor. What have you thought of the future?' Y/n asked, her hands playing with the cuffs of her uniform. She was not expecting that Byleth would come up here. Then again, it is a good spot to hide away from unwanted attention. She knew of the rumor here. A pair of students come up here to share a wish, usually a romantic one. But Byleth was no student so she doubted it was considered as one.
Byleth, who silently sat next to Y/n before she asked him the out of the blue question gave a thinking hum in response. His hand resting below his chin, thinking of a response. It was only a few seconds before he gave his answer.
"I don't know. Probably return to doing mercenary work after the houses have graduated."
Y/n hummed in response. She expected that from Byleth, seeing that he was a pretty simple person. She wondered how a mercenary suddenly got a job a professor.
"What about you?" Byleth asked, his gaze now locked on her. Y/n gave it some thought before looking away from him.
"I want a future where all our friends can live happily together. No differences, no conflicts. Just peace."
"That sounds lovely. But I was referring to yourself."
"Oh, well. It's not much to be honest Professor. I just want to live happily ever after with a man that loves me for who I am. Rather than for my crest and family's worth. I believe I told you before, that matter that made me miss your arrival when you became the Golden Deer's professor. I had to deal with some rich nobleman that offered dowry to our family. It isn't the first time. There was roughly ten men before that. Offering dowry and everything they have to marry into my family. Seeing that my brother was in the Adrestian Empire at the time. I was the only one to comply. Luckily, my father isn't some cruel person to force his daughter in a hand of marriage. I go back home, judge these men that try to win me over, only for me to find out the lies and tricks up their sleeves and see them removed. Not one person has seen me for my own worth. The recent leaving too, I had to see another one. Stinking noblemen." Y/n growled at the thought of the men. Byleth only just stared at her before giving her a reassuring head pat.
