I sit in the backseat on the impala, searching for anything in my dad's notebook

I sit in the backseat on the impala, searching for anything in my dad's notebook. We've searched this thing over and over again yet I'm still hoping we could have missed something. Anything.

There's literally not even a mention of the dead rising. How in the world did this happen? Not even the demons seen this one coming. They no longer have souls to steal so they must have went somewhere else. I'm not sure where.

I wonder if we'll ever know where.

I'd be okay if we never seen a demon again but maybe they'd be able to help us. Crazy thinking, I know.

"Ellie!" Sam whispers to me.

I look at him confused until I realize what's happening. Walkers are coming our way.

"Stay down!" He orders me as he slips under the impala. I sink down on the floorboard and pray the dead can't see me.

We stopped because we couldn't get through all the traffic blocking the highway. Then something went wrong in the RV. Now a hoard of walkers are coming for us.

I try to control my breathing as I wait for the herd to pass by us.

My anxiety is through the roof and I wish I had Sam's hand to hold.

It seems like forever until the driver side door is opening.

"Dean?" I ask softly.

"You can come out now," My big brother's voice instantly eases my nerves.

I get up from my hiding spot and step out of the car. I hear Sophia's yell which causes both Dean and I to run towards the sound.

We get there just in time to see Rick running after her in the woods. Carol is freaking out, rightfully so.

Carl runs to me as soon as he sees me and wraps his arms around my waist. Lori is too distracted with Carol to notice how her son reacts to me. Shane notices though. I can tell by the way he's watching the interaction.

"What happened?" Sam asks, coming up beside me.

"There was still a walker and it chased after Sophia," Carl tells us.

I see Daryl coming towards us with T-Dog who has blood dripping down his arm.

"Are you okay?" I ask him.

"I got cut really deep but i'll be fine," T-dog tries to brush it off but I shake my head.

"We have wrap in the car, come with me," I tell him.

Carl let's go of me so that I can lead T-dog to the impala. I open the trunk and grab the medical wrap we keep in there. We've had enough incidents that an emergency kit was necessary at all times.

I take his arm carefully in mine and try to clean it up the best I can before wrapping it. T-dog winces when I do it but he doesn't complain one word to me. I can't say the same about my brothers. They whine every time I have to clean a wound.

"Thank you, Ellie," T-dog says, giving me a side hug.

It takes me by surprise but I hug him back, "of course."

We walk back towards the group, hoping to see Rick and Sophia.

I see Andrea and Dale has joined the group as well.

Daryl walks over to me and brushes his arm against mine, not saying anything.

Rick comes back without Sophia, breaking all of our hearts as he shakes his head.

Carol let's out a sob in response, "my little girl. She's all alone in the woods."

I stand in front of my brothers as they come up with their own plan to find Sophia

I stand in front of my brothers as they come up with their own plan to find Sophia. I can't help but rolls my eyes at how similar their plan is to Rick's. We all split up into groups and look for her.

I go with them. Shane, Rick, and Carl are splitting off. The rest of the group will stay together to look for her as well. We can cover more ground with three groups.

Dale and T-dog have stayed back at the RV so Dale can fix the engine. Dean offered to help him but Dale told him he'd be better off looking for Sophia.

I didn't disagree, we need as many people look for her as possible.

The other group have already left as we finally make our way through the woods. I lead the way, knowing more about tracking than my brothers do.

"How do you know what you're looking for?" Dean asks.

"Daryl taught me on our hunting trips," I tell him.

I look for tracks that can look for Sophia's. I don't find hers but I find another track. It looks to be bigger than what hers would be. It could be the walker that chased after her so I follow it.

I'm not sure how far we walk until we get to a clearing.

"There's a house with people that are alive," Dean points out the obvious.

We move towards the large farmhouse but raise our guns when a woman comes out onto the porch.

"Who are you?" The woman yells.

"You tell us first!"Dean yells back.

All of our attention is drawn to a figure running towards us in the distance.

When it gets close enough, I recognize it as Rick carrying Carl in his arms.

"Carl!" I gasp, running to meet them.

"He's been shot," Rick cries, stumbling towards the house with me right on his heel.

"What happened?" The woman asks us.

"He's been shot! Your man did it!" Rick yells in desperation.

An older man comes out, "come inside, quick."
