"Shouldn't Crowley have killed the Governor by now?" I ask Sam as we walk behind the group.

The Governor attacked the prison but Rick's plan worked. We were able to take them by surprise and attack them back. Now we are heading back to finish it. Rick and Daryl surprisingly agreed that this was the only way.

"You would think," Sam answers me with a shrug.

Dean and Rick are leading the group. We left Glenn and Maggie back at the prison with the others. Michonne and Daryl are close but separated from us.

Jo is holding onto my hand with a knife in her other hand. I glance at her and see that she is staring at Dean. Gag.

"Just go up there, I'll be okay back here," I encourage Jo to walk with my brother instead of me.

She gives me a grateful look before letting go of my hand and rushing up towards the front of the group.

"It's really weird that they are a thing. I didn't think Dean was capable of being with one person," Sam tells me.

"The apocalypse changed him," I shrug, "or maybe he always wanted to be with one person. We just never could."

Sam sighs and I know that hit him deep. First Jess then Amy. He can't seem to be able to hold onto anyone without them being ripped from him.

I lace our fingers together and give his hand a gentle squeeze. At least he will always have me.

At least he will always have me

Rick's pov

I have wanted to kill the Governor from the moment I heard he laid his hands on Eleanor. I killed my best friend because he touched her. I have no problem pulling the trigger on this one eyed maniac.

Unfortunately, he is no where to be found. He slaughtered almost all of his group and ran off. Only one person survived his attack and her name is Karen. She led us back to Woodbury where we decided to bring back the innocent people. It wasn't hard to make the decision when Eleanor and Jo gave me puppy dog eyes. They have been here and they know that these people are good. There's children here that did nothing wrong. They just ended up with the wrong man leading them.

Once we have a bus full of people and they are safe at the prison, Eleanor makes her way to me with the biggest grin on her face.

"Eleanor," I greet her with a small smile.

"You are amazing," she says, leaning up to kiss my cheek.

I move my head to connect our lips, "you think too highly of me."

"The Governor wanted to destroy you and your group and what do you do? Take in the people of his group."

"You practically begged," I tease her.

"You didn't have to do it," she says, shaking her head.

"I'm a sucker for a pretty girl," I say with a shrug.

She raises her eyebrow, "Jo?"

I laugh, "no, darling. You."

She grabs me by the collar of my shirt and pulls me to her with a smile. I hold onto her waist and lean down to connect our lips again. Her lips are so damn soft. I'm not sure how she does it but she takes my breath away. I haven't felt this way about a woman since Lori and I were teenagers. We only married because she got pregnant with Carl. I can't even remember the last time I felt in love with Lori. Maybe the day Carl was born. She did bring my favorite person into the world.

Now Eleanor is consuming me and I would be completely okay if she took over every part of my mind and body. I'm falling hard for this woman. I knew it was over with the day we met.
