6 pm.

You sighed as you rested your chin on your palm while your elbow rested on the hard surface of the checkout counter, scrolling through your phone absentmindedly. Today was rather slow at the bookstore that you worked at, maybe because it was Monday, but even so you usually got more customers coming in than today.. you were the only one in the store.

You thought about going over your notes from psychology because of the test tomorrow, but you decided you were prepared enough so you continued to scroll through your phone.

*Ding*

The bell over the door rang out, meaning someone had finally come in which caught your attention. You quickly turned your phone off and looked towards the door, putting on your friendly cashier smile, ready to greet whoever it was.

Your smile faltered a little, not because of something negative but instead because of surprise.. why was your professor here? There was another man with him, long black hair, about the same height, and his eyes were piercing and deep. You assumed it was his friend.

Satoru looked over at you, his smile growing without him even noticing as he made his way over to you, Suguru following behind him.

"Ahh y/n, fancy seeing you here, so many bookstores in the city and I just so happened to walk into this one, funny huh?" He asked as he smirked and leaned on the counter a little. Was he doing a good job at acting as if he didn't know that you worked here? He didn't know.

He knew you worked at a bookstore since you had told him on Saturday, but you never told him which one. How did he know you worked at this particular one? Well, simple really.

He did a bit of stalking on Sunday.

Only a bit..

"I guess it is a pretty funny coincidence.. but we haven't really had many people in today so it's good that you're here." You say and smile at him as you glance over at Suguru as well, you noticed his gaze was rather soft. He smiled at you too, his smile was attractive. "..Do buy something." You add jokingly.

Satoru chuckled. "Not to worry, I needed to pick up a book anyway." He says and then glances over at Suguru, then back at you. "This is Suguru by the way." He says and grins as he pats Suguru on the back.

You looked at Suguru and nodded, smiling a little. "Nice to meet you, I'm y/n."

Suguru smiled at you again and extended his hand out for you to shake, which you accepted. His hand was soft and his handshake was gentle. "It's a pleasure, y/n." You felt your cheeks heat up a little, why was he so effortlessly charming?

Satoru noticed. He saw it in your eyes, the small glint.

No, he couldn't have you admiring his best friend. You were his, not Suguru's.

"Well then, come help me look for that book, hm? C'mon." Satoru says as he grabs Suguru by the shoulder, turns him around and drags him towards the bookshelves. They disappeared into an isle and you watched them, you shrugged and returned to your phone, waiting for them to come back and check out or ask you for help with finding something.

Meanwhile Satoru was scanning the book titles and Suguru just followed him, his hands stuffed into his pockets.

"Who was that? You seemed to know her." Suguru asks Satoru as he watches Satoru's finger run over all the books, trying to find the one he was looking for.

"One of my students.." He mutters, more focused on the books rather than the conversation itself.

Suguru raised a brow as his eyes shifted to look at Satoru's face instead. "Oh? How old is she?"

Satoru paused for a second, why did Suguru want to know your age? "..I'm not sure, I think she's around 20." He knew you were twenty years old, but he wanted to seem like he was unsure so as to not raise even the smallest bit of suspicion. "Why?" He asked, his gaze moving over to Suguru for a moment, waiting for his answer.

Suguru shrugged. "Just wondering, you usually don't pay attention to your students much." He said and chuckled. Satoru pouted a little.

"Hey, now don't put it like THAT, I was only making a guess." He says and then chuckles a little as he goes back to looking through the books. "And plus I do pay attention to my students, kind of."

It was somewhat true, he did only pay little attention to his students.

Expect for you of course. He paid a lot of attention to you, and you didn't even know it yet.

"Aha, found it." He mumbles as he pulls out the book that he was loping for from the shelf. It was an Agatha Christie book. Why did he pick it? Well, because he knew you enjoyed reading her books.

How did he know?

...

"Agatha Christie? You're into detective novels? Really? YOU?" Suguru asked and let out a small laugh, Satoru definitely wasn't one to read crime fiction detective novels.

But he would try it because you seemed to like them.

All for you.

"Oh, shut up." Satoru said and rolled his eyes. "I'm trying something new, expanding my horizons." He says and smiles as he glances at the book in his hands. "You're my best friend, why aren't you supporting me?" He asks and crosses his arms as he stares at Suguru.

Suguru put his hands up jokingly in defeat and smiled. "Why, of course I support you, you're finally going to start reading again for the first time in 15 years!" Suguru says and laughs as Satoru smacks his shoulder lightheartedly.

"You're such a jerk." Satoru says in light fun as he walks past Suguru and makes his way back to the front counter. Back to you.

He places the book on the counter and smiles at you as he pulls out his wallet, searching for his credit card. You looked down at the book, your eyes lighting up slightly, you liked the book he picked out since you had read it before.

"Oh, this is a good read, sir." You say and smile at him as you take the book and check it out, a beep filling yours and his ears for a brief moment. You slip the book into a small, cute paper bag with the store name on it and hand it to him as he paid. "I'm sure you'll like it."

Satoru smiled at your words as he put his credit card away, taking the small bag and wrapping his long, slender fingers around the skinny handles of it. "Thank you, y/n, I'm sure I'll enjoy it more now that you've said so." He says. It was a subtle flirt, not something that you'd really pick up on. And you didn't.

He turned around and began to walk towards the front door. "See you tomorrow, y/n." He then turned his head over his shoulder and looked at you again, a small smirk on his lips. "I'd say good luck for the test but I already know you're prepared, as always." He says and shoots you a small wink. It made your heart flutter and you smiled and nodded.

Suguru followed him out, also smiling at you briefly before they both exited the store, leaving you alone again.

You stared at the door for a little while more after they had left. Did you find it odd that he showed up at the bookstore that you worked at? Maybe a little, but you didn't think much of it.

Satoru got home. He sat down on the couch, placing the small bag next to him while he pulled out his phone.

He opened Instagram, clicked on the search bar and then started to type.
