"Which one should I pick?"
Suguru asked you as he held up one small box of green tea and another small box of black tea. You stared the two boxes, debating on which one you think he'd like more based off what you knew about him thus far... he seemed like both a black and green tea type of guy.. you weren't sure.
"Uhh.. how about.. black tea?" You suggest and raise one brow as you look up at him, hoping he'd agree with your decision, and he did. He smiled at you and nodded, putting the small box of green tea back onto the shelf. "Nice choice, I love black tea." He says and carefully tosses the box of black tea into the shopping basket. You smiled and followed behind him as he began to walk to another aisle.
You looked up at the back of his head as you followed him, even the way he walked seemed gentle to you.. the way his slender fingers were wrapped around the handles of the shopping basket in such a tender way, almost treating it like a living thing, made you feel comfortable around him. You may not have known him for all that long but the way he carried himself gave off such a congenial vibe that it could make anyone feel calm around him. You wanted to know why he invited you to help him shop, though. He had mentioned that you'd be "perfect" for this, but why exactly?
"So.. why did you want my help?" You ask and move to walk beside him now instead of behind him, glancing up at him and waiting for his answer.. and his answer came quick and without hesitation.
"I just wanted to spend more time with you, get to know you better." Suguru says and smiles down at you. "You know, me asking you for help with picking things out tells me about your preferences which lets me know at least something about you." He said softly, running his right hand through his black locks as he stops in front of some cleaning products.
You thought about his answer.. you were glad that he wanted to get to know you since he also seemed like a nice guy to you, but you also couldn't help but think that maybe there was something more to it... or maybe you were just overthinking.. either way you two get to spend some time together and you didn't mind that. Your eyes moved over to the cleaning products that he was looking at, which was some laundry detergent, he was wondering whether to go for the lavender scent or the one called "ocean mist".
"What do you think?" He asks, his eyes still on the detergents. You took a moment to think before answering. "I'd personally go for the lavender scent, but it's really up to you." You say and shrug, watching his right hand and wondering which one he'd pick. "Lavender it is." He nods and smiles as he places the lavender scented detergent into the shopping basket, the added weight in the basket didn't seem to have an effect on him. He turned to face you and looked down at you with a small grin. "I think I need to take you out shopping with me more often, I like all of your preferences." He says.
You smile and nod, feeling glad that he actually liked what you preferred. "I wouldn't mind, I like helping my friends out.." You paused as you realized what you said.. you called him a friend when the two of you didn't even have an established friendship yet.. it wasn't that bad but you still felt somewhat embarrassed so you looked away. "Or.. y'know.. people who I'm acquainted with.." You say and let out a small awkward chuckle, trying to fix your mistake. Suguru found it cute, your embarrassment. He smiled warmly and placed a gentle hand on your shoulder.
"Consider us friends, y/n."
He said, his thumb subtly and gently caressing your shoulder while he looked down at you, a small glint of something else in his eyes.
