"so you're saying there are kids like me out in the world?" y/n asked excitedly as she threw the ball back at her father in their small backyard.
"yes," her father replied catching the ball. "I didn't know my daughter was a witch... although it would explain many things."
"so... how do we get there... exactly?" the little girl questioned as she missed the ball cerus threw at her and turned around to try and find it.
"well..." cerus started as he reached into his back pocket to fish out the letter he received from the strange owl. "it says the hogwarts express is located in kings cross station at platform 9 ¾."
y/n snapped her head towards her father in confusion. "platform 9 ¾? does that even exist?"
"from what I've known... no, but, it says that there will be a representative from hogwarts that will help us shop for your school supplies and get us to platform 9 ¾," the man informed as he squinted his eyes at the paper.
"oh! this is all so exciting! I can't wait to meet other kids like me," the little girl smiled as she jumped up and down in front of her father.
cerus couldn't help but smile fondly at his daughter. many kids and peers his age didn't treat y/n well. they always thought she was weird, a freak. she was undeniably different from others but that didn't make her bad at all. if they took the time to know y/n the way he did, they would see that she was an absolute sunshine to be with. his sunshine. but sadly he knew more than anyone that the world doesn't like people who are different.
"this will be good for you," cerus said as he crouched down to her level. "they'll teach you how to control your ability and hopefully I don't hear about you exploding ink all over another kid's face."
y/n blushed a little in embarrassment.
"do you think I can practice doing spells?"
"it doesn't hurt to try. although you don't quite have a wand yet..." cerus squinted his eyes again as he tried to read all the supplies his little girl needed.
"that hasn't stopped me before though!"
"go on then. try to make something happen," cerus replied and stood up.
"okay... okay.... abracadabra-"
"this shaggy little thing?" y/n questioned as she scrunched up her nose at the sight of the pub.
"apparently so..." cerus looked down at the piece of paper again. the two hightowers were standing outside a dingy Wizarding pub called the Leaky Cauldron and were supposed to be meeting with a hogwarts representative. "just stay close to me yeah?"
y/n nodded her head as she held her father's hand and stood close to him. they both entered the pub, hand in hand, as they looked around.
everyone at the pub stopped what they were doing as the two entered. feeling slightly uncomfortable, y/n squeezed her father's hand as she shuffled towards him.
