This week's SmackDown has a segment that has the WWE Universe wanting some answers as Randy Orton will address the crowd and give his reason of his attack on his second son and former student.
The second iteration of Legacy came as a shock as well and there were some questions on the members. Cody Rhodes was once part of the original iteration alongside former WWE Superstar Ted DiBiase, so no question for the American Nightmare. Natalya was a questionable choice given the fact that she wasn't doing that much.
However tonight, Natalya will go one on one against the woman she defeated in NXT last year, Cora Jade.
The match went underway as the young Jade launched a barrage of punches on the veteran Hart with vengeance on her mind. Jade used her speed to keep Nattie on her toes, living no room for error and also wanting to prove to the woman she looked up to as a little girl.
(Fast forward)
Cora took down Natalya with a missile dropkick and got her in position for the double underhook DDT; however Natalya got out of it and tries to lock in the Sharpshooter, but Jade countered and got Natalya in a small package pinfall for the upset victory. Cora was in shock and disbelief as she defeated her idol in one of her first few matches.
However, Natalya did not take the loss to well as she ambushed Cora in a post-match beatdown while Jade tried to defend herself. Nattie went to lock in the Sharpshooter while Jade tapped out, but then help came as Charlotte Flair's theme played with the Queen running to the ring and takes out Natalya with a vicious spear.
Flair stomped on Nattie before throwing her out of the ring, making Natalya land awkwardly on her ankle. Nattie held on to her ankle and needed help to stand as the referees lead her to the back.
Inside the ring, Charlotte saw Cora on her knees and what looks like that the Queen was gonna help the young star up, Charlotte swerved the crowd by hitting the Natural Selection on Jade. The crowd booed as the Queen taunted the crowd and saw Cody Rhodes and clapping for her on stage. Charlotte smirked and got out of the ring to join the Legacy member on stage, signifying that Flair has replaced Natalya as the female member of Legacy.
(Backstage)
Alex watched what transpired just now as he is a serious predicament that he to deal with the new Legacy of Orton, Rhodes and Flair. What he needed were some allies, but as WWE Champion, he also has a giant target on his back. His good friend Braun Strowman is still out dealing with an injury and he couldn't put his trust to Jey Uso given what the Bloodline did to Orton a year ago.
As for his WWE title, there will be a battle royal to determine his next challenger and amongst the participants were his fellow young gun pillars "Dirty" Dom Mysterio and Austin Theory.
Now the main attention is on the segment with Randy Orton. Alex watched and listened as the Viper's theme played.
(In the ring)
As Voices played, Randy Orton came out with a new look, but to most fans, that new look happened to be his clean shaved bald head from 2009 to what fans called that version of the Viper, the sadistic, venomous menace to society.
The slithering backstabbing snake made his way to the ring while the crowd booed and held up signs saying why he did it. Orton got a mic and stood with the cold venomous look on his face as he began to speak.
Randy: I've been asked by a lot of you people why I RKOed Alex Auditore two weeks ago, why did I turned my back on my supposed second son, someone I slapped to the face and shaped him to what he has become today. Why I did is because Alex Auditore thinks he is me, it's because he wants to be me, stealing every move I have in my arsenal. He only became world champion is because of me. Hell if I did not pick that kid up, he may still be in catering in the back like the others. Alex Auditore is riding my coattails to remain significant in this business; he has been here for five years and has won only three championships; I've been here for 20 plus years and became a 14 time world champion. Now, I don't care who wins that battle royal next week, all I care is whoever becomes WWE Champion, I'm coming for that title
The Viper took a long pause to soak in the crowd.
Randy: as for Legacy... Cody Rhodes and Charlotte Flair... sooner or later, Cody will finish the story and sooner or later Charlotte will surpass her father with the most women's championships. Whether you people like it or not, Legacy is back and better than ever
The crowd booed even louder. As Randy continued to speak, he was interrupted by his former student, Alex Auditore. The Pharaoh walked out on stage and stared down at his former teacher as he got in the ring and grabbed a mic of his own.
Alex: wow Randy, how can you be that low? You think I'm riding your coattails to remain relevant and have this on my shoulder? Then you may have missed some important details of my life. I grew up watching the likes of you, John Cena, Undertaker and Batista at a small 1 bedroom house on the streets of Quiapo; I learned how to fight an defend myself who dared got in my way and my family. I fought and worked my ass off from Manila before making my way here where you yourself said you saw potential in me; that moment when you slapped my face... it changed me... don't come out here saying I'm a whining spoiled child who demands title shot after title shot, something you did in your younger years. I earned my way to this, and I want to thank you for teaching me everything
Randy starred down at Alex with that cold look in his eyes as he spoke.
Randy: the only reason why I slapped you in the face is to wake you up, that the WWE is not like your small Philippine wrestling promotion. And look at you now, you're nothing more than a Randy Orton ripoff! You wanted to be me, but wake up kid! I'm still here!
Alex: yet you treated me like the son you have! I have put my entire trust in you, yet I am aware of the conniving, sadistic and twisted snake you are. And as you said earlier, I don't care as well who will win next week's battle royal because with or without this title on my shoulder, I want to kick your ass!
Randy smirked as he finished his statement.
Randy: Alex... I may have taught you everything I have, but there are some unwritten rules... and one of them is... always have eyes at the back of your head
As Orton said that, Cody Rhodes ambushed Alex from behind, but the WWE Champion managed to fight back, however the numbers game catch up as Orton joined on the fray. Charlotte Flair came down and got in the ring as she watched Orton and Rhodes beat the WWE Champion down. To add insult to injury, Orton and Rhodes held Alex up for Charlotte to kick him below.
But help came as Cora Jade came running to the ring and taking down Flair with grounded punches; Alex managed to fight off the two Legacy members as he sent Rhodes through the ropes, leaving the Pharaoh alone with the Viper. But then Cody back in the ring with a chair and swings it across the back of Alex.
Cody set up the chair as Randy held Alex by the head, looking for an RKO on the chair. But more help came and to the surprise of everyone, coming out to help Alex and Cora was the returning Drew McIntyre. The Scottish Warrior rushed down to the ring and went for Rhodes as Orton got out of the ring and escaped.
McIntyre fought off his former Dashing Ones tag team partner as he takes Rhodes out with a Claymore. As the Legacy retreated they stared down at what happens to be a team up of Alex Auditore, Cora Jade and Drew McIntyre.
SmackDown ended with Alex raising the WWE title as Cora and Drew stood shoulder to shoulder with him, staring down at Legacy.
